Mosquitoes live on tree sap until reproduction time.
Then only the female inserts its proboscis into a suitable animal, and pushes in its stomach contents, containing blood and gastric juices from last meal, this dilutes/mixes with host blood.
The female then sucks up this mixed fluid until its stomach is again full.
Because there is new fluid, blood, in the mix, it cannot take in all it pushed out.
Therefore some gastric juice/blood mix remains, this is a contaminant, unsterile, and gastric, so it ITCHES.
So there is a transfer of body fluids from female and last host to the current host's under skin region/capillaries.
Some hardy organisms can survive in the mosquito, such as dengue fever/ malaria organisms, and many viruses but not all.
The male can hear the sound of a feeding female, for a very long distance, and comes in to mate.
The female then lays eggs etc.
