  1. China's 'history' is very recent due to maoist purges. The Chinese consumer is very very cautious as the Chinese folk have never known anything but narcissistic and harsh social repression, except for the brief flourishing under colonial foreigners, in non rural regions. Feudal serfdom is the usual Chinese characteristic and the long, long suffering folk subsequently retract expectations, wants and meagre expenditures. Marx's derogatory term 'capitalism' is in China and elsewhere really a 'free marketeering' and is the goose that lays the golden egg. Regimes world over are showing their hatred for freedom of choice/optionality, NOT just communism. We are seeing this retraction everywhere for similar fearful reasons. 🇦🇺🕯️
