Sadly, U R bang on, our group having lost a tonne in ND ( Bakken shale fields ) , even justa 'straight' cheap gas ( or oil) drilling is very challenging, getting anything economically from the shale is tricky ! ( i.e. cost of drilling, transportation, distrubution, conversion to energy, etc etc ) - FERVO only exists because there is more capital in the U.S. , which has "more money than brains" :-)
