  1. Basically every time I see the words quantum , Multiverse , even nanotechnology I think BS and don’t even read it usually now. So there is a downside to this hype problem. (Also I used to review proposals for tech grants for a major institution so you can see the potential for harm). Potentially decent research ideas will be overlooked because reviewers are fatigued from wading through BS.

  3. I think it would be possible to deflect a 100meter diameter asteroid. In the 60s the russians made a 100 megaton bomb (the yeild in the test was only half that but if it was set up for it it could probably do 100). So that is about 4.2E17 joules wich is close to the kinetic energy of a 100meter meteroite. And it only has to be deflected. If you put the largest thermonuclear bomb on a heavy lift launcher I think it could work. Also we could do that like a bunch of times. Several currently existing heavy lift launchers could deliver large h-bombs to mars or further.

  7. This is something that the US Govt could definitely force a solution to. Instead of worrying about which bathrooms trans kids the us / eu / canada ect should force the phone system to fix itself. This is nuts.

  8. Many of things that not strictly speaking perfectly mathematically perfect still work well enough in real life. I wish the US used ranked choice.
