  1. I think it would be possible to deflect a 100meter diameter asteroid. In the 60s the russians made a 100 megaton bomb (the yeild in the test was only half that but if it was set up for it it could probably do 100). So that is about 4.2E17 joules wich is close to the kinetic energy of a 100meter meteroite. And it only has to be deflected. If you put the largest thermonuclear bomb on a heavy lift launcher I think it could work. Also we could do that like a bunch of times. Several currently existing heavy lift launchers could deliver large h-bombs to mars or further.
