Technically speaking, that's what BT was designed for as tracks were considered too costly(due to wear of strictly imported rubber) and unreliable(few people realise WHY Koshkin risked his health to show that fully tracked version of T-32 aka T-34 was reliable enough to go several thousand kilometres on tracks). I'm just surprised that it took them THAT LONG to figure it out ie read the bloody manual:D

@TrangleC 1)ALL tanks are offensive weapons. The ONLY "defensive" tank ever designed was Strv103. Can you guess why it's not an offensive weapon when looking at it? 2)USSR had never hidden intentions to attack other european states first to "reclaim god given historical lands" and then to "spread revolution". Hitler likewise had never hidden intentions to attack USSR, that was his main political platform since 1934 and a part of his speeches even before that. Moreover USSR was actually in the process of negotiating joining the war on Allied side before France fell as it was obvious that war with Germany would be inevitable with such rhetoric plus it allowed them to achieved their first phase of Stalin's own ambitions. However as France fell, the negotiations fell through and USSR was left hanging not knowing what to do and not wanting to bet on UK during the peak of Battle of Britain. There's also a second problem, USSR rearmament program was planned to finish only in 1943. So while there's a degree of truth that USSR planned to attack first(hence fuel and ammo reserves moved to the border and the fact that majority of newest tanks aka T-34 and KV-1 were moved to Byalastok to serve in armored fist), the overall situation was closer to "wtf are we doing exactly again?". Soviet military was caught with their pants down for a reason, because they were trying to put two different pants on at the same time.

A replica. I can likewise make a replica of Bob Semple from a modern dozer.

@MarkVrem no tank(or any other armored vehicle) in the world used Christie suspension after T-34-85 and Comet. And even those inherited it from Covenanter/Cromwell and T-34/76. Soviets abandoned(well, we tried, but reality had some... corrections) Christie suspension for torsion bars in 1940 on T-34M. Brits were trying to abandon it in 1942, but failed for the same reason and had to endure until Centurion was ready. Thankfully it wasn't the only option USSR and UK had. T-45/60/70, KV-1/s/85, IS-1/2 were all torsion bar tanks. Meanwhile brits had Valentine, Matilda II and Churchill. They ducked the last two up pretty badly, but it was at least something.

@walli6388 the roadwheels, dear, look at roadwheels

@walli6388 roadwheels. There a were two types in use. The pre-war one with external rubber bandage. And the cheaper, WWII one with internal bandage. The external bandage one was suffering very high erosion rate from the track.

@DIREWOLFx75 "because it was found to simply be too inconvenient to remove and put tracks back when needed" BA-10 was the most mass produced armored car pre-WWII and was sheduled to be replaced in production by BA-11 in 1941. Remind me what was one of the key features of it? Suddenly the problem stops being a problem? Weird...
