  1. If you google it, you'll find out that in 70's USSR produced towed versions of same 125mm guns used on T-64 and T-72. They were configured as antitank guns(low profile, optional shield, full rotation), but they are universal guns thanks to their caliber. Technically they are still on balance in reserve. Don't know about NATO though, it usually was more concentrated on offensive.

  2.  @ML-fc3je  here is the thing - barrel launched ATGMs exist. You can literary take some WWII gun of matching caliber and equip them with modern optics and ballistic computer and fire those. Good example would be soviet(again) BS-3 100mm gun can theoretically use 100mm barrel launched ATGMs with tandem non-rotating HEAT. If you want to be specific that is. Or you can redrill D-25 of IS-2 to 125mm instead of it's 122mm(groove depth is around 2mm), you can also use modern non-kinetic chemical munitions to some effect.
