@razter6678 funnily enough the setup is also interesting and can be explored in sequel(which won't have anything to do with grids though so probably it won't be made). Why do aliens have such ineffective guns and why do they stop firing when ships turn away? Because aliens are prospecting team of geologists, who use remote charges and drill drones as weapons to buy themselves time to contact their local equivalent of coastal guard for help because they think that locals shot down their communication ship after sending a message themselves. Humans think that they're in Independence Day, aliens think they're in Zulu...

@monkeymonk666 I haven't know it was supposed to be made in the first place. I was just mentioning how it can easily be spinned into existence since setup was rather fine. Sadly I doubt if it'll ever be made that it'll be better then whatever they tried with Independence Day sequel. Too often it seems as if screenwriters and directors can't do the exact things that gave name to their jobs...
