  1. It's not about armor, it's about range. Artillery is kept at around 30-70% of it's max range into the rear depending on the situation. HIMARS is used with ammo that has at least 80km range(Ukraine has soviet era MLRS systems for closer targets) so your drone is supposed to go for 20-60 km into enemy territory after alarm is raised, search it all, find something and then signal for attack.
