There's an old joke that being in center of Europe means that all armies in history has raped, killed and pillaged on your territory while just passing through to their actual enemies:D

Lol. Being muslim =/= liking and helping other muslims. Heck, saudis hate Iran more then Israel does. Why? Because they're competing! Same goes for the defense pacts. Pakistan is a chinese ally(to backstab India in case of Indian-Chinese war), Iran is indian and russian ally(to counter Pakistan), Saudi Arabia is american ally(and ironically so also an ally of Israel. Yes, they're on the brink of war, they hate each other, but technically they're allies through USA. Not to mention that they make billions through trade with each other while publicly calling each other abominations to be eradicated). And the prize in that competition? Being de facto leader of all muslims in the world. That title is kind of a big deal. Imagine US losing the image of the main "western country"? Yes, trillions of dollars are gained and depend on upholding such an image alone. And here's the thing. While all compete for muslim primacy, they also uphold nationalistic views of population to keep themselves independent from others. Saudi speak about arab brotherhood, Iran calls back to persian roots, Pakistan views itself as the only true descendant of all things that ever was great in India and Turkey is going for osmanic legacy claim. Not arabic, mind you! And they all view themselves as ONLY rightfull rulers of unified Middle East. A culturaly and historically impossible, but so lucrative new superpower that could easily overshadow Russia and be actually recognised as serious competitor by US and China(the fact that it won't just be a summ of all statistics and parameters of all ME states, but be a much weaker state doesn't come to minds of most people).

Canada is a member of NATO that DOESN'T get involved into a conflict against another major NATO member that has nuclear weapons. Turkey and USA however are both NATO members and currently have the worst relations possible due to a lot of scheming on both sides. And we live in the world where 5 permanent UNSC members are free to go out and rape to death any small nation that isn't a member of "nuclear club" without any fear of retaliation. They will bomb your country to stone age and then complain how it is THEM, who suffered from the war. Erdogan is an islamist radical(easiest way to argument about here is i9n how he handled educational system) that plays to russian fiddle, but the problem is that he was cornered by morons in Washington. And now they cry that he's biting back to stay in power:D The sad truth is that nuclear weapons are the only guarantee of your independence in our world. Even a strong economy means only that you'd be inclined to pay protection money to someone, who has them. And it's not just simple cash, if you know anything about politics and economy. Simple approval of certain political moves is enough...

@Bluss you're going to argue that PDRK before and after "they" (I'm still inclined to check the serial numbers on warheads and see if they match chinese or russian arsenals;)) developed nukes and methods of delivering them are viewed the same on political arena?
