When Russia was pushed away right into welcoming arms of Putin and his (literal) tsarism and EU was constantly thrown under the bus increasing tensions within the alliance. US+EU+RF vs PRC would have been a new one, but this is just a continuation.

Kuomintang isn't on political map of Taiwan, modern day citizens call themselves taiwanese and their country Taiwan, in population censuses they mark as taiwanese-chinese instead of chinese as their ethnicity and all the talks about mainland are long forgotten.
