Comments by "" (@TheArklyte) on "How Russia's DSHK Heavy Machine Gun Changed War" video.
"That's Dushka" Shows NSV:D DShK didn't change anything except proven that Degtyarev was a lazy ass while Shpagin was a genius. DK was piece of crap loaded with pan magazine, useless as HMG. Shpagin made the gun reliable, belt fed and then worked on simplifying it. Hence DShK. Followed by DShKM ie M-modernized. Then it was replaced by NSV and nowadays by Kord. DShK didn't change war just like M2 didn't. German 13.2 TuF did. And russian military isn't stuck in 1940's to still be using DDhK:P In fact most guns you show in insurgent hands are Type 54, chinese copies which are nowadays supplied to anybody who's ready to shoot people and cause chaos.

P.S.: it got replaced "fairly quickly" ie in 40 years after its development(DK 1931, NSV 1972) because it was becoming obsolete. M2 is here around just because US army is treated by government as crap, not getting either budget or attention of navy and USAF. They fixed f//cking spacing issue only in early 2000's while that could have been done back in 1940's! M2 is overweight recoil operated piece of rusty junk. It's better then no HMG, but it's not the one you'd want to carry around. And it's weirdly expensive to produce(though that's usual of Browning).
