@8asw8 most things actually. Not handling minorities though as both sides failed here(not as brutally as the rest of the world, but still very hard). Don't you think that US don't have place for swiss style referendums? That most of the world don't? The other thing would be higher focus on supporting popularion itself(farmers, labour unions, small business owners) and fighting tax evasion(if you pay your taxes in Ireland, do you need to make profit in US?). No country in the world have all the policies that people strive to and none of the ones that hurt it. It's a constant battle for adaptability to conditions and time.

@Tony.795 well, how about on state level? Or maybe lower on city level? People need to have a tool that allows them to bypass bureacracy. "Oh, we don't like our mayor because he's a corrupt bastard." Instead of unarmed protest that ends up being shot at by riot police and leads nowhere, people would have tool to remove him immediately. /Cough/ though in country with 2A they already have needed tools unlike here, but I'd try not to mention it.
