Problem is not that it bad, but that it wasted 3 possible plots for good movies! They could have played the plot straight, but execute it better, with proper logical responses and consistency. They could have subverted it by having people from the future be sort of genestealers sabotaging modern day and all people sent to the future by force by orders of indoctrinated governments were just biomass for aliens to eat as well as sabotage of Earth ability to defend in current time. And third one it could have been a climate change antiwar movie where the twist would have been that there are no aliens, people from the future are just buying themselves a place on modern day world with their tech and in exchange government sends people, who blindly follow propaganda to the future where they won't be able to return.
