Ok, it's a wrong thing to do, to comment before watching... but was it worth it? USSR wouldn't have fallen because of Leningrad and siege had ALREADY turned the city into a deathcamp. What to lose? Electronics factory that might have been the best in USSR, but was unable to work anyway? I know that strategic value was in it tying down german troops, but was that value really that high? Maybe it was better to bait more german troops into the north? And morale value? Nah, "Retake the City of Revolution!" is no worse of a propaganda tool then keeping it.

@Arwiden 1)yes, but that's not the point. 2)what encirclement? They'd be too busy pillaging the city. A chance to leave is already a good one. 3)look up point 3. Who's encircled in a city of Lenin that can't be given up for political reasons now? I remind you that germans had lost their one and only chance to get an upper hand and ground RAF during Battle of Britain just because a few bombs fell on Berlin with borderline suicidal effort! And then they've changed priority of Luftwaffe to intercepting and bombing cities instead of airfields. They never had gotten close to grounding RAF since. Nazis think with POLITICAL AGENDA, not brains, strategy or economics! So you either follow the same route as them(as was done irl) or start using your brains to fight to win a WAR.

@Blazo_Djurovic what else? There is evacuation(earlier or better planned or more forcefull in summer months) and increased supply(said extra docks that might have helped or more prepared supply)? Operating with only two tools which were heavily used irl and proved insufficient is a crappy deal already, but I'm more inclined to think that I'm just too dumb to see a possible solution then that there wasn't one.
