Renewables would be sufficient for our power demands even when we go interstellar. Solar satellites are possible and Dyson Sphere is something that we're looking for as a sign of (close) alien presence in the galaxy around us. Problem is that renewables aren't mobile and batteries suck. Which is where future of nuclear rests. Even if idea of nuclear container ship is a bit worrying, US and soviet/russian navy were running nuclear ships for half a century. And those were old barely testbed fission designs.
