Comments by "" (@TheArklyte) on "How the USSR won the helicopter race - Mi-26" video.
Can I see a source on that? Because as far as I know there is no way Mi-26 would beat Mi-12.

@jswjr6001 you're correct, however he never claimed that Chinook was a heavy lift. Tbh putting soviet/russian and american helicopters into one classification simply doesn't work. For example, two most widespread and produced helicopter "archetypes" are Huey and Mi-8, produced under dozens of names and configurations in dozen countries over half a century. Both are claimed to be medium ie in the same class. But when you look at them it's obvious that they're not as either Huey is light or Mi-8 is heavy OR medium means "99% of all helicopters ever produced" and has no connection to size, mass, power, etc.

@jcraigie are you answering to me? 56 tons is maximum liftoff capacity of Mi-26 ie it includes Mi-26 itself and it's fuel. Maximum load is still listed as 20-22 tons in all sources. OP claims it can lift 56 tons, which it can't. So I want to see his source. Why is it important? T-64B MBT and Mi-12 remains the only instance of helicopter being able to airlift contemporary for its time MBT.

10:03 57 tons included the mass of Mi-26 itself, you absolutely restarted bot. Neither Mi-26, nor C-130 can carry MBTs.

To put it into perspective, the closest equivalent in both size and carrying capacity there is to Mi-26 in US army logistics would be C-130. Which isn't a helicopter or even STOL as many have noticed😅 Pity that in comparison to Mi-6, Mi-26 looks so ugly. Not to mention that in comparison to Mi-6 and Mi-10 it was barely produced so when those retired helicopter construction in Russia and post soviet states basically ceased to exist. P.S.: would be cool to see Mi-26 modernized with all the bells and whistles of SuperStallion like the refueling mast for example.
