  1. 1)peasant didn't work less. Farmers and their whole families work every waking hour to survive. 2)the issue is simple morals. We don't want to bring children into this world if we can't afford for them a BETTER childhood and jumpstart then what we had. And many young people thus just decide that they can't afford to have kids because they don't want to be bad irresponsible parents. As you can see, people who don't care about their kids and partners have no trouble getting someone pregnant all the time;)

Our chance to meet anybody is so low due to both distances and TIME(since there is no universal start date for evolution, birth of civilization, etc. We can be among others, we can be first, we can be late) that any effort invested into it beyond normal scientific studies of the universe is a wasted effort. If it happens, it happens. Our job is to preserve biological life, intelligence in our universe and knowledge of our civilization. Mind you, neither of these 3 goals requires survival of humanity either...

Because before 2000 no one even thought that we're cornering ourselves. Colistin was in use for decades before many modern antibiotics were even invented. So we should all be happy about pile of bodies the size of population of a small country like U.S. Virgin Islands or an american town like Springfield that had amassed over the years and keeps growing because to all of us outside the US(especially the ones, who had experienced the horrors of nazi regime) it doesn't look fucking terrifying in the slightest or how your merry happiness about that situation is looking even worse. US needs to introduce capital laws akin to those used in Taiwan, South Korea and Japan to preserve national wealth. Then next step is reforming educational and healthcare system as well as introducing customer protection and labor laws inspired by working examples from ANZAC and EU. Only inspired in both cases as copying laws of another country with different history and culture won't work. But it still won't matter if the international focus won't change to cooperation instead of trying to dominate and screw over even close allies.

If you'd separate US military, airforce and nave from USA in terms of oil consumption, USA will still be number one consumer while those three combine would take 4th place among consumers... AMONG CONSUMERS ON A LIST MADE UP BY COUNTRIES! World Wars were a huge boost to american industry and economy and everyone knew how Great Depression was partly caused by industry grown by war failing to cut its appetites for peace times. So Cold War was inflated as much as possible on every corner which was helped a lot by informational blockade on both sides. But we've also seen that even the fall of Warsaw Pact can't change much. War is profitable. And ideal war is one against someone, who can't fight back.
