Scrappleton II Perhaps the attitude you received has something to do with, say, yourself?

To many dutch, all allied soldiers and personnel are Heroes. And the people they left behind while doing their tasks. Of course there are differences, but I dont think those heroes did what they did because they want to be distinguished as heroes.

Ich Kämpfe well, we know what they did to western people, civilians and pow the like. Surviving often on an handfull or rice a day and lucky as a woman if you didnt end up a ‘comforting woman’. The huge atrocities in Korea and China were even much much worse. So if there would be food shortages in Bengal, take a wild guess what the japanese would do about that. In any part of this huge conflict only the Allies chose to try and feed people where they could. Thats enough reason for praising them for that isnt it?

@higgme1ster he has trouble getting over the fact that the allies bombed German cities. In his mind, these were acts uncalled for. That hitler was already waging total war on a good deal of the world and rewrote several chapters of the book of what it means to be human is something he cant wrap his head around. Hey @Ich Kämpfe, are you aware of the fact that when the Germans were occupying the southern banks of the waterways in Rotterdam in may 1940, but couldnt cross the bridges because of the Dutch defenders, they forbade civilians to evacuate their houses which they were using as cover for the fire of the Dutch defenders? How does using innocent people as live shields count in your book? Oh right, they weren’t Germans so they probably didnt count. Not until they could be dragged of as slave labor.

beckys2222 yes, up till around the turn of this century I would say. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. Sentiment was pretty anti-moffen then. And rightly so I suppose for the people who were directly effected by the wrongdoings and atrocities. But nowadays it’s not there anymore. The germans I meet now are childern of the childern.

Haim Arlosoroff thanks for the invite, but I’m not going to dance to that tune. If you believe that crap you wrote, theres no point in talking really, you’d believe anything you fancy. If you don’t believe it, there’s no point either, you only wrote it because you want to dance with me.

Ich Kämpfe i don think you care about german lives, why should you? You’re a national socialist as you say, your fuhrer didnt care one bit for german lives, he seemed to care only for ultimate victory.

Ich Kämpfe that you would burn everything to achieve whatever fever ridden fascist dream it is you have. That you don’t care what ends up as collateral damage. Nazi’s invaded europe remember? Nobody put a gun to their head and forced them to, they were the ones with the guns. But it doesnt matter I suppose, whatever I say you will brush aside. Saying it is probably not true, so what is the point in talking any further. Goodbye 👋
