  1.  @timr9633  people voted for an alternative to the usual parties. Liberals, social democrats, christian parties. And there is a large group of his voters that want stricter immigration policies.

  2.  @geerttermeer3358  not saying you don’t have a point, because you do. Except, this comes from a mindset that excludes other possibilities. You say we have to make a transition to a clean economy, and you probably say ‘we have to let immigrants in, if not because of humanitarian point of view, then because of demographics’. But this ‘we have to’ is disputable, and that is exactly the point. It is the same as the flyover states in the US, they feel decisions are made over their heads. You say there is no alternative. Well actually there are, there always are. You are just convinced this is the rational, and only way right way to go. And, because of that, you are probably of the opinion that everyone that wants something else is, well, deluded or stupid.

  4. I don’t think Geert Wilders actually wants those things, or deems it realistic enough to achieve. He is more ‘taking a stance’ with talking about Nexit, guilder, or forbidding Islam. He has a beef with Islam, and has his arguments for that. But most of his stance is: Netherlands for the Dutch. Fewer EU rules an most of all more freedom in immigration policy. Maybe get Islamic schools and mosques harboring hate speech imams closed, but that’s going to be dicey. Whether this ‘stance’ actually represents what people literally vote for, who knows what anyone thinks right? But my view is that people vote for a ‘direction’ in Dutch politics. An exception is NSC which has a charismatic leader. Indeed Wilders is putting up a ‘caricature’ of a political course, which will be thoroughly dimmed down. Even if he gets a government which I doubt given the cards on the table. He has too little seats and willing participants for a coalition. Other parties will exclude him and wait for the opportunity to form a coalition without him. Not that I desire this or not, just how I think it will turn out.
