@bruceflachsbart2048 I don’t agree. There are plenty independent virologist who have good data on why it is unlikely. I think it is a very good post by Peter. He clearly states that both theories are possible (and that is what most virologist say, its impossible to disclaim the theory that it came out of a lab, but it is certainly not certain it did. On the contrary, the data suggests). I would brand this a bad post when Peter would bet certainty on pure hypothesis

No, we still can’t be certain. All good points, but the Mother Nature theory is just as valid. Sure, it is highly suspicious, the lab being in the city where it started. But Wuhan is the epicentre of the region where these colonies of bats and their viruses live. In that regard having a lab there, from which laboratory employees went out to collect samples, is just as plausible as the disease breaking out in a city that is the regional centre of the area where the bats live. So not enough data yet. Independent virologist say the Mother Nature theory is more likely, and pretty much in fact, when looking at samples from the local bat population versus what had been in the lab.

@xandr13 at what point is a probability a certainty for you? When it reaches 50%? Because the in consensus is it is even lower on this situation. Or is probability analysis another term for ‘Looks good to me’ for you?

@markrobinowitz8473 exact. Look we know why this is happening. Peter explains this very clearly. This has nothing nada zip to do with what really happened concerning the lab or Mother Nature. This is (Geo)Politics. And I’m not saying it is a bad thing, it’s just not based on truth, on certainty.

@dennispeterson6598 perhaps, but corona viruses are perfectly normal in nature, as are zoonosis. They happen quite more often then you might think. And every new one is a new gamble for a globalized world, even for ancient civs the where serious hazards.

@101wormwood isn’t that the norm throughout Politics?

@bobmcbobson8368 he does?

@codywaller2840 he does?

@vidard9863 nah, not true. There is a lot of evidence for the natural world theory. If you say there is no real evidence, it is clear you are not making informed conclusions. As for bats, it is probable that an intermediate species served as transfer animal.

@1Esteband their article says it ‘cannot be ruled out’ it came from a lab. That is not what I would call ‘a tiny sliver of chance’ that it is mother nature.
1
@arrendaled oh yeah, which one for example?
1
@ElementaryWatson-123 and you were somehow admitted to this closed meeting?

@knox1711 critical thinking? You mean conspiracy thinking? And you claim Fauci was ‘pushing the narrative’, like the way you push yours? With your capital CLEARLY and IMPOSSIBLE? Or is it always somebody on the other side that ‘pushes narratives’, while you are merely ‘thinking critically’?
