The general assumption that poverty generates bad behavior and the decline in religion in the west (the last which I would applaud in seeing the logic of the enlightenment) has shifted the belief and morals that was originally present in christianity to woke/multiculteralism. Where morals beliefs and moral/virtue signaling was usually something we associate with religion and belief, it is still the same, but now vested in another illusion: the pseudo science of the humanities and fallacies of Marxism, resulting in a perverted application of every victim-oppression axis imagined possible. We may truly be greatly improved as a society by social democratic regulation of the extremes of capitalism, but it is like the French revolution over and over as it indeed was, not having an ‘off’ switch. (Until they put the man in charge of the guillotine under the guillotine). But essentially, the issue is a religious one in that it talks like a religion, and acts as a religion.
