He opposed the invasion of Pearl Harbor since he saw the number of people in the US and the industrial capacity. While Japan had made admitted great strides in modernizing they were nowhere near the US or most euro countries at the time in industrial or scientific output.

Txtspeak It is however a fake quote. No Japanese military or gov't official ever said anything like that. They didn't invade Australia which was right next to them and an easy takeover with huge amounts of resources. If the Japanese had taken over Australia it would have taken decades of allied occupation to get rid of all the Japanese guerrilla fighters. They didn't have the resources both equipment and manpower to do an invasion of Australia which is just few million people over mostly empty land. The whole Japanese strategy was to get the US to do a ceasefire and come to the negotiation table where the Japanese would stop the fighting in exchange for the oil and other embargoes which caused the Japanese to do their invasion of various territories to be dropped.

A third world village can set up a machine gun factory with ease in comparison to building a single functional tractor. Guns are just simple. Its the gunpowder that is the issue and even that can be made in maximum security prisons along with the bullets or shot along with the gun from scrap and other materials. If prisoners can make and mail out bombs from maximum security prisons in the US then why do liberals think gun control will stop criminals outside of prisons from making their own guns?
