  1. add in there is a best selling series of black mermaid books written by a woman of Nigerian descent. if Disney wanted to promote real diversity why not get that new ip and make media based on it and promote the author? also instead of remaking it they could have the prime mermaid character be a descendant of Ariel and show her as one of multiethnic branching family with hundreds of descendants
