@elinor6525 false. if a fire extinguisher is used immediately its often just a few hundred dollars that is covered by insurance and the car will run for the next ten years without issue. its when you have to wait for the fire dept to arrive that the car is going to be a write off because it will take 30 minutes to several hours.

also most car fires are easily repaired. you know because ice is meant to have a fire inside. its you know the internal combustion aspect.

@steve_is_my_name its not stupid. its like a fireplace or oven. a ice car engine is meant to have a fire in it because what do you think combustion is?

@gerbre1 not enough water or if the temperature rises to turn the water into hydrogen and oxygen than a fire isn't going to be put out, diesel fires even from tankers are often put out easier than an electric car fire.

@stevehale4712 and 100x times more likely to be extinguished by spitting on it whereas for an ev fire you just let the thing burn because pouring water on it is pointless.

@psibug565 yes it does.. several fires are on record as being so hot that adding water just made the fire stronger because the fire was dissociating the water into Oxygen and Hydrogen.
