@rb7500 suits are fitted for the person using them. you also have to be suited up by another person that adjusts things for you.

@z-beeblebrox well some of those sci fi depictions do mention that the sounds being heard are the computer adding them in so the crew wouldn't get freaked out by ships on the viewscreens exploding without sound or the ship weapons that fire without noise. I remember one rpg sourcebook saying that while laser weapons didn't have sound the manufacturers would add a sound making module with customizable sounds because customers found it disconcerting that the weapons weren't making a noise when fired. .

@robloughrey temperature at 250 F ie boiling and lack of pressure. they had expelled their breath since holding it would make things far worse.

@robloughrey it does get to 250 in the light side. the lunar suits have a cooling system in them for that reason. outer space facing the sun is actually hot not freeing

@rb7500 you mean lose the atmosphere that would knock them out in a few seconds. the suits were also damaged with a dead body in them that would have voided the bowels.

its still deadly due to our medical science. even at a few seconds the damage done would kill or severely cripple the person. even the more realistic sci fi depications mention you wouldn't want to be deliberately exposed to vacuum unless it was a dire emergency that death would 100% result if you didn't. it would be like jumping out of a the penthouse of a skyscraper versus being burned to death.

@Jkim890 it was meant to protect their face from the temperature outside. the temperature outside was 200 degrees farenheit. your face especially your eyes is not going to react to vacuum and that temp. the point was they had to use what was on hand to do the task to stop everyone from dying at the base.

@SimonBauer7 you mean the galley whose airlock was no longer in use for exiting and enterting the base not even on an emergency basis due to how old the section was? eventually that section would be decommisioned and scrapped for materials
