Trump and everyone involved all said the ceasefire was to save Israel. Israel's claims of victory are for domestic propaganda. Strategically it was a stalemate, but overall a huge humiliation for Israel hence their need to spin it as a victory. Iran's survival and recovery from that crippling surprise attack was not what anyone expected. The fact US/Israel went from demanding unconditional surrender and regime change to a ceasefire should tell you everything you need to know.

Tactically it was a huge victory for Israel and a massive intelligence failure for Iran. However, Israel failed to turn those massive gains, despite decades of preparation, into anything long-term. Hence it was a strategic humiliation and failure for the Israelis. For the Iranians, it was a strategic stalemate, which itself was impressive considering the massing opening shot Israel delivered.

@Shoelessjoe78 You just argued against yourself. If Israel had full aerial supremacy why did it beg the USA for a ceasefire? Trump himself said the ceasefire was to "save Israel" from Iranian retaliation.

@danielhtp8068 The target was unconditional surrender, regime change, complete dismantling of the Iranian nuclear and ballistic program, and complete collapse of the Iranian military force. Did any of that happen?

Israel is a military regional superpower because it's backed by USA and NATO If Israel were "winning" as everyone claimed, there would be no need for a ceasefire. Israel would have kept attacking and kept its planes all over Iran to continue targeting and surveying Iranian military targets. Iran's retaliation was getting harder and harder each day. They first used their old generation missiles that were 30+ years old and close to expiry to deplete air defenses, that's why the interception rate was 80-90% initially including drones. Once they started using their modern projectiles, the interception rate fell down sharply to 50%.
