@Rrrrrrricky56789 It's a full Google system now.

What a hideous interior. Looks like a brothel.

@uploderpilot No, he was the design director at VAG group which includes Bentley, didn't mean he personally designed anything for Bentley, just means he signed them off. Likewise here, he didn't design it.

@hodb3906 What a load of complete shit. Volvo has massively improved since the Ford days, is not being shoved down people's throats, is not derivative in design and has made a successful leap from ordinary car maker to a more aspirational one. All the cars that were once owned by USA such as Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Aston are MUCH better under non American ownership.
1
@BTUCK03 Why do Americans use model years. No one else does.
1
@BTUCK03 Usually in Europe we just use the Mark or the model code. For example BMW 3 Series could be referenced by G28.
1
@BTUCK03 Not really, if you say year then you can have two different models made in the same year. If I say I have a Golf MK8, doesn't matter what year it was made. It's a Golf MK8.

@MaGiKRat420 Fortunately you don't speak for Volvo buyers. Seems your views seem rather antiquated and one eyed. There's rooms for lots of opinions but attempting to speak for all Volvo owners or potential buyers is pretty arrogant.
1
@MaGiKRat420 I think you are giving a blanket review on the basis of your own views. It's fine if they are your views, but I think it's arrogant you attempt to speak for everyone. I'd agree the Google infotainment lacks variety and configuration, but it does things pretty well. I'm presuming you are in America given the brands you mention. Volvo isn't attempting to be Lexus or Genesis, themselves a second rate premium car. It is simply looking to improve to be a more aspirational brand and post Ford they have certainly succeeded. They haven't claimed they are in the same sector as Merc, BMW or Audi. As someone in North America you have no business complaining about fuel economy. It simply isn't an issue over there. I've had two new gen Volvos and get 40mpg in summer, 38 otherwise. That's good enough for most people. I think if you don't own one, never have and are basing them on what your parents used to have 15 years ago you're coming from a position of ignorance.
1
@MaGiKRat420 Judgemental? What are you on about? You're speaking about cars you have no experience of. That is the definition of ignorance. You're the one pretending to speak for all Volvo customers. Do you really think they don't do market research about their cars? Perhaps you think they should just ask you?
1
@timwin7155 That isn't true. GM for example forced SAAB to use GM chassis/platforms and parts, same with Ford with Jag/Landrover, same with Ford and Volvo.

@Praise___YaH Grow up

@naebalvas Like all cars are doing?

The V60 is a nicer looking and more practical car.

It is ghastly. Gauche, vulgar and trying too hard. Asian cars, like American cars generally make terrible interiors.
1
@artieartya Bentley would laugh at this wheel. It is frightfully ugly.
1
@uploderpilot No, you said they were designed by the same person. That isn't splitting hairs, that's a fundamental difference. Ian Callum was head of design at Ford and at Aston Martin and Jaguar, but they weren't the same products and not the same aesthetics, and so were not comparable. This German obviously did a good job at Bentley, his team, perhaps constrained by finance and an Asian mentality were less successful with the Genesis quite clearly.
1
@uploderpilot I'm saying that despite it having the same head of design that Bentley once had that this Genesis is ugly. Perhaps Genesis have more constraints. If you're in the market for a luxury car, why cheapen the experience by buying an Asian car for second rate luxury? It's like buying a Cayman instead of a 911.
1
@uploderpilot Ha ha ha. On every corner of YouTube, there are reliability obsessives. It's a moot point. Cars arent unreliable anymore, especially new ones. Hilarious you claim them to be rebadged cars when they're hand built in England. Conversely Lexus and Genesis are simply Toyota and Hyundai in a posh frock
1
@uploderpilot There's always a reliability bore around isn't there? New cars aren't unreliable.
1
@uploderpilot Using YouTube clichés such has "entered the chat" , "hold my beer", "be like" etc disqualifies you from commenting. If European cars are so bad, why are they sold world wide where US made and designed cars aren't sold in anything like the same quantity?
1
@laxmansaravanakumar8480 No, I just think that like American cars, style and design is sacrificed at the alter of saving money. Asian cars especially have a reputation for spectacularly dull interiors. It's not racist, they just in general pay less attention in interiors. Hope that clears up your misinterpretation of what I was saying.
1
@laxmansaravanakumar8480 You just said I was permitted a subjective opinion, but then you imply that I'm wrong about "second rate luxury" I would put Rolls, Bentley and Maybach in the luxury category, I don't think Lexus or Genesis are in that category. If you do, that's fine. I don't. It clearly wasn't racist. Asian interiors by and large like American interiors are uninspiring primarily because it's constrained by price and market demands. Lexus, Genesis, Acura etc are just bog standard Asian brands in a posh frock, hence second rate. If you want to interpret that as racist, then it simply tells me your "fauxfence" is on rather too delicate a trigger. It isn't racist to say I find Asian interiors bland, especially when I have already explained it's most likely due to budget constraints and what I meant by "Asian mentality" was that there is a difference in what constitutes luxury in our different cultures. Is it racist if I say I don't like American exterior design? because by and large I do not.
1
To me Asian and American cars seem to have a slightly lower definition of luxury. It's as if they're trying, but they don't quite understand the concept.
