Volvo has massively improved since the Ford days, is not being shoved down people's throats, is not derivative in design and has made a successful leap from ordinary car maker to a more aspirational one. All the cars that were once owned by USA such as Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Aston are MUCH better under non American ownership.

  5.  @BTUCK03  Not really, if you say year then you can have two different models made in the same year. If I say I have a Golf MK8, doesn't matter what year it was made. It's a Golf MK8.

  6.  @MaGiKRat420  Fortunately you don't speak for Volvo buyers. Seems your views seem rather antiquated and one eyed. There's rooms for lots of opinions but attempting to speak for all Volvo owners or potential buyers is pretty arrogant.

  7.  @MaGiKRat420  I think you are giving a blanket review on the basis of your own views. It's fine if they are your views, but I think it's arrogant you attempt to speak for everyone. I'd agree the Google infotainment lacks variety and configuration, but it does things pretty well. I'm presuming you are in America given the brands you mention. Volvo isn't attempting to be Lexus or Genesis, themselves a second rate premium car. It is simply looking to improve to be a more aspirational brand and post Ford they have certainly succeeded. They haven't claimed they are in the same sector as Merc, BMW or Audi. As someone in North America you have no business complaining about fuel economy. It simply isn't an issue over there. I've had two new gen Volvos and get 40mpg in summer, 38 otherwise. That's good enough for most people. I think if you don't own one, never have and are basing them on what your parents used to have 15 years ago you're coming from a position of ignorance.

You're the one pretending to speak for all Volvo customers. Do you really think they don't do market research about their cars? Perhaps you think they should just ask you?

  9.  @timwin7155  That isn't true. GM for example forced SAAB to use GM chassis/platforms and parts, same with Ford with Jag/Landrover, same with Ford and Volvo.
