  2. The Chinese are doing a far better job of financing Volvo than Ford did. Ford sold both Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover at a loss and now they're thriving. Funny how you don't whine about American cars being owned by Fiat isn't it?

  5.  @HawkeyeRides  I agree it doesn't think 😀😀 We clearly have different views on what constitutes "luxury" though on either side of the Atlantic. We in Europe just see Volvo as a brand that post Ford has stepped up to being a more premium brand, albeit a notch below BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Porsche and Audi, but on a par with Jaguar and at a push Lexus might also be in that lesser section of the premium bracket.

  6.  @HawkeyeRides  Mazda premium? Mazda are considered bog standard mass produced everyday cars similar to Ford or VW here. Agreed that a Volvo compares favourably to the general dross for sale in US, but we have the equivalent dreariness in Europe too with the likes of bland brands like Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Skoda, Ford, Opel, SEAT, VW and their utilitarian vehicles. Granted USA have an unhealthy obsession with "bang for the buck" at expense of quality, but I still think luxury for Volvo is a bit anachronistic and I say that as someone who has owned 2 Volvo, a Polestar and has an XC90 currently on order. Also, a quick look at US sites shows cars sold in America are considerably cheaper than the same model in Europe. PS, I know it's not easy to tell necessarily but I'm being light hearted here, not combative. PPS the laughing emoji was in response to you missing out a crucial couple of words in your response, which made it read funnier than you had intended.
