We have become very soft indeed, and if you can't afford to turn the heating on these days, then you probably aren't very good at organising your finances or habe chosen an especially poorly insulated home.

When have house prices EVER gone down in the long term, and even if they did a 30 reduction in value still means you have alot more money in an asset than you have if you rent a place your entire life. You'd still be paying rent as a pensioner for fuck sake. Who wants that?

Are you actually thick? If you rent a place for 10 years you've built up fuck all and you leave with nothing At least owning a property you reduce the mortgage and increase you equity. Renting long term is a mugs game If you sell a house at any point in the mortgage period the bank doesn't own all the mortgage, they are only due what hasn't already been paid.
