The best resort in terms of how to run a resort properly is St Anton. Proper investment every single year. American resorts seem so run down, so devoid of atmosphere, so expensive, so small etc. US just don't know how to run a ski resort as they should be.

@eadecamp I was laughing at how bad Tahoe was. Like a resort from 1985 Why did you go to Garmisch more than once? Of you didn't rate it why didn't you go to any of the numerous world class resorts nearby? Europeans grow up skiing. They're definitely better than your average American.

@b3arwithm3 No they aren't. European prices are WAAAAYYY less than US resorts and you get a lot more for your money. Bigger resorts, better lifts etc. US is like Hot Tub Time Machine

@b3arwithm3 Norwegians, Danes, Swiss and Irish all earn more per person than the USA or were you talking about ski resort workers? European resorts manage to get the best lifts available and STILL be cheaper than US resorts which run on 1970's/80's infrastructure.

@bernhardmeysel Have you ever looked at Swedish geography? 90% of Swedes live nowhere near a mountain that gets snow, let alone a ski resort

@b3arwithm3 I didn't even imply I did, but ive been to over 50 resorts in a dozen countries so I'm pretty well versed to comment on what I've seen. In my experience American lift prices are considerably more expensive and the infrastructure substandard compared to Europe. I don't think you'll find anyone who would disagree.
