@Al13n1nV8D3R Materials to make batteries out of are also finite. So what do you think of that? We are not in danger of running out of oil or gas. Petrol costs a lot not because its hard to find but because 75% of it is taxation. Where are they going to get the revenue when they stop getting it from petrol? They'll charge you per mile or per charge. You think EV's are cheaper to run still? 🤣 🤣

@Al13n1nV8D3R I don't have a tiny engine car just to afford petrol. I don't find petrol prohibitively expensive, though many do, it's just more expensive than it is in the US. I have a smaller engine than you would have in the US, because its pointless having a V8 here, not because I can't afford it. Oil is not in danger of running out anyway so saying that EV's prolong the lifetime of oil is a rather silly statement. I would rather pay a bit more for my fuel though than drive the sort of car that Americans buy.

Perfect car? What do you think cars are made out of? Plastic, rubber and metal. All reliant on oil and gas for either raw materials or to melt the metal, transport and construct the cars. What can you make tyres, carbon fibre, plastic, wire insulation etc out of without oil?

Nothing will end oil and gas because we need it as a foundation for materials like tyres, electrical insulation, carbon fibre, medicines, cosmetics, plastics etc.

And how much do you think you'll have to pay? If a Polestar 2 is 50k with 240 ish real time range, do you think you'll get any car based on this battery for less than 180k?

@Al13n1nV8D3R Why do Yanks moan about the price of theor petrol? Its virtually free, you have zero incentive or need to buy an electric. Your cars cost nothing and your fuel is so cheap. Why bother with EV?

@Al13n1nV8D3R V8 isn't a common sight in Europe. Too loud and most of the cars that have them are too wide. I have had V6's and straight 6 cars though.

@starlandgaming6116 No, not really. Petrol cars in countries other than America grt about 35-45 mpg, diesel cars get around 45-65 with a tank size of between 10-15 gallons. So on average closer to 400-500 miles per tank.

@jbaker0203 How is gas used in construction of batteries? Oil and gas are used. Gas to melt the metal, oil to make plastic. Oil and gas to charge the battery. Ool to transport it, oil to make plastic packaging etc etc.

@jbaker0203 ha ha ha. What tyres exist made from non oil? You're using cobalt now, and you do eveeytime you use anything like a mobile phone, laptop, GPS device or anything like that, but not so holier than thou about that are you? We don't have enough renewable energy for even our current electricity needs, nowhere near, yet you think that you can increase that to remove fossil fuel as the majority source for our electricity and to convert everything we have which uses fossil fuel? 🤣 🤣 🤣 Do you have any idea how long it takes to plan and built a nuclear power station? Not to mention most countries don't want them.

@jbaker0203 Of course I understand what transition is, but what people don't realise is that it will take decades, not years. You cannot do this as quickly as environmental maniacs are demanding. China are currently building 150 coal power stations to add to their current 1000+ coal power stations are incredibly cheap and technically easy to build compared to Nuclear. Germany and Japan have abandoned future plan for nuclear. (for the record I'm all for nuclear) Would you really want countries with dubious governments and corruption like Nigeria, Angola, South Africa, Qatar, Brazil etc to have multiple nuclear power stations?

@jbaker0203 No I'm talking about idiots like Extinction Rebellion who are demanding the end of fossil fuel use by 2025, and virtue signalling governments like the UK who are stopping the sale of ICE cars in 2025, despite the fact that there is an insufficient infrastructure to enable widespread EV ownership and the fact that EV cars will not make the slightest difference to CO2 on a global level from Europe when the likes of China, India, America, Russia and Brazil equal 60% of CO2. Coal is not more expensive than renewables for countries like China with vast supplies and cheap labour.

@jbaker0203 I said EV cars from Europe. This equates to 1% of global Co2. EV makers concede that depending on your grid you need to drive an EV 30,000-70,000km to break even. Even if you took all cars of European roads now, you'd not see a reduction in CO2 until they'd all done this mileage. I get a new car before its reached this level, so I will never own a car more clean than a normal car on this basis. I'm not a denier, I'm just realistic that governments and activists are attacking things which contribute far less to environmental damage than others. Planes and cars seem an easy target because there are visible emissions. Global air travel is 2% of global Co2, same as running the Internet, yet you don't hear people protest against the Internet do you? Why aren't they demanding changes in industry, construction, heating, cooling etc? The lack of consistency in the argument is the problem and the rampant hypocrisy of campaigners is the problem.
