@Eric_L456 Cars go on fire a lot, Hybrids are the worst of all.
2
@serenan920 How would you know of you have an old Volvo? I really hate the politics of envy.
2
Luton wasn't an EV
2
@amcluesent You can't out links on YouTube. Just do some basic research.
2
It's not an EV.
2
When I return to the UK for a visit I tend to hire an electric because they are half the price of a petrol.
2
Hope Polestar are suing for copyright.
2
It's not a disaster.

Death traps? In what way?
1
@dhollongstreet4725 That's a total myth. EVs go on fire NO MORE than a conventional car fire, which is almost never and can be put out with a simple blanket. You need to stop buying into these ridiculous YouTube conspiracies which aren't supported by any evidence
1
@dhollongstreet4725 EV fires being any worse than normal cars is a myth
1
@dhollongstreet4725 EV fires happen no more regularly than any other type of vehicle fire. Stop buying into YouTube conspiracies.
1
@dhollongstreet4725 Stop believing crank conspiracies. EV fires happen no more than any other kind of vehicle fire
1
@dhollongstreet4725 You should stop believing conspiracies
1
@markthomasson5077 I'm an ev driver but going to a petrol station is absolutely no problem whatsoever. You're in and out in about 4 minutes. Big fucking deal.
1
@nsweeney3970 Your criticism of EV are pretty petty and are more related to infrastructure not being capable. I live in Norway and it works here.
1
@Galerak1 it's not an EV moron.
1
This is demonstrably FUEL burning.
1
@DrAl60103 You CAN put them out, quite easily. You just need a fire blanket, but just as no one cares about ICE vehicle fires because they are so rare, we shouldn't worry to this degree about EV fires
1
@DrAl60103 Do you worry about your ICE car catching fire? No. So why worry about EV?
1
When is this myth going to stop? EV's statistically do not go on fire any more than any other type of car.
1
@amcluesent They're easy to find, just go and Google it. Didn't you know you can't post links in YouTube without them removing them? Hybrids are by far and away the most likely to catch fire.
1
@bobstirling6885 Swedish Civil Contingency Agency research has shown that fires in an EV are 19 times less likely. Bedford Fire Service has 1900 vehicle fires in 2019, only 54 were EV.
1
@bobstirling6885 No it does not mean that. If EVs were statistically much worse for fires as is claimed then the % of EVs catching fire would be far greater than the % of normal cars catching fires.
1
@chappy2121 Backtracking now? They can be successfully stopped from burning with fire blankets. Just face facts that fires aren't a significant worry for EV.
1
@timsbird1971 The UK grid is absolutely NOT half renewable. I'm an EV driver, but that is crap, and even if it were true for our CURRENT demand, that wouldn't be the case with a greater uptake of EV.
1
@adamdavies163 No one is saying they don't or haven't caught fire, but that statistically they are no more likely than any other car.
1
@adamdavies163 Exactly so why are fires in EVs given disproportionate coverage? 570,000 Kia ICE cars were recalled over fire risk, yet this sort of recall is never mentioned.
1
@adamdavies163 Only if you dont deal with them properly or use an inappropriate method. It's so rare it's not worth worrying about.
1
Unlikely, majority of petrol stations are franchised from the likes of Shell, BP, Esso etc, which more likely means another company will pick it up.
1
@billienomates1606 You are gullible. EVs go on fire no more often than any other type of car. Stop believing this conspiracy nonsense.
1
@billienomates1606 All the EV bashers are quiet about the Land Rover Discovery sport that went on fire this week and family had to get smashed out with golf clubs.
1
@ddyeo503 Why would they care? Statistically an electric car doesn't go on fire any more often than a combustion engine car, so why would they care what's in it?
1
@kpopfan674 An EV fire is actually very easy to contain with a fire blanket. EVs don't go on fire any more frequently than a normal car anyway.
1
@kpopfan674 Why wouldn't you be able to unlock the doors on an EV? You aren't making any sense. They also have a smaller battery for the electrics of the car you know, just like an ICE car. They don't just run off the motor batteries.
1
@kpopfan674 It's a demonstrable fact that fire blankets extinguish car fires and by the way if you're the sort of person who uses the word "literally" then I don't know what to say. It's such bad English is use it when not necessary. Of course they have to learn new methods for new types of fire, and they have as I just highlighted
1
@kpopfan674 Plenty of examples of people trapped in ICE as well in certain circumstances. There's no statistics which state that you are more likely to be trapped in an EV.

I really do think youtube has an unhealthy obsession with reliability.
1
@markfox1545 Reliability is a good thing, but whenever there is a car review on YouTube, there's always a cult of ( Americans usually) whining about its perceived reliability. The bottom line is that cars are extremely reliable these days, of course some are less reliable than others but reliability isn't so much of an issue that people need to obsess over it the way that they do. Just as I don't overthink reliability on my laptop, phone, home electrics, heating system etc I don't overthink car reliability.
