  2.  @BMill1272  Yes, I know, but insurance for a 17 year old in a fast car isn't cheap wherever you are because you're a massive liability. His policy probably cost more than his car. Insurance is even more expensive in the US because its a litigious country and they have far worse road safety and accident statitistics. A mate of mine moved to the US and pays a ton more for his insurance as well as all other insurance being more too. I

  3.  @thedoo777  It's the cost of repairing it that is the issue in general, as well as it being a car in demand by thieves. Safety doesn't really come into as much as those other factors.
