@basedondennis What the fuck has this got to do with race? If you'd actually bothered to read I said American cars are also boring. Asian cars, with a few exceptions are largely dull, in fact all cars are largely dull, but the likes of Ford, GM, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Mazda etc are especially so. Stop race baiting.

@jdmguy44 You have to be joking. Virtually nothing coming out of Asia is interesting . Don't get me wrong they're improving, but they are bland in the extreme, as are American cars. Europe make some pretty dull cars too, but Asia in my opinion are the worst offenders and also have some of the worst car interiors with the worst materials.

This is the trouble with Asian manufacturers. Instead of trying to create their own market they're obsessed with trying to be the Japanese Mercedes, Korean BMW, Japanese Volvo etc. Try being original for a change. The French have the right idea and aren't afraid to be different and even the perpetually dreary USA actually are different even if they don't appeal globally. Asian cars seem to be content to just impersonate well established market players, and it doesn't work.

@jarkeydude111 Materials, plastics quality, fit, design, ergonomics. Asian/American cars always seem to do the minimum, cheaply and design wise it is dreary. It's as if these cars always have the bottom line in mind and they build to that standard.

@jarkeydude111 If you're going to aspire to luxury, then car companies need to understand what it actually means. In America the term luxury seems to mean a combination of things, primarily just making it bigger but if adding leather for example is seen as a luxurious touch, US will add leather, but not give a shit about the quality of the leather, see what I mean? America still has a problem with "bang for the buck" rather than "you get what you pay for" and it shows badly in their cars being cheaply made. Interiors are important because you spend all of your time in there, for the sake of a bit of money it's worth spending a bit extra on, not penny pinching. I don't have a problem usually, it's when they try to match higher end cars for example Lexus are second rate as are Cadillac and Lincoln. I agree most cars are just a way of getting from A to B, but if you want to challenge in a segment, best to actually understand the segment. It's why the likes of Cadillac and Lincoln simply aren't sold in most markets or have such a minor share they might as well not bother.

@jarkeydude111 They're dull and boring. They're getting better, but they're still incredibly drab. I'm not trying to compare Mazda to Bentley or even BMW. Mazda is the Japanese equivalent of Ford, which is why it can't compete in the Premium segment because it's a bog standard, mass market, ordinary car maker. The problem arises when it think it can go beyond that familiar segment it does do well and tries to do something it can't. I think Volvo has done a better job of trying to bridge the gap and it understands a bit better, but still sits somewhere in the middle. How are Mazda more practical? There's a ton of cars from Europe you never see in the states. As for reliability, no one makes unreliable cars anymore.

@jarkeydude111 Just drab and uninspiring in general. I'm putting Ford and Mazda in context, I'm not expecting luxury from them, but I am expecting a bit more imagination. I do think Asian car interiors are improving, but they're still obviously cutting corners, for the record I would also state that VW for example also display the same lack of imagination so it's not just a US/Japan/Korea issue, but they are perhaps the most obvious exponents of laziness. Costs are not practicality, practicality refers to ease of use and space, access etc and if we are talking efficiency then European cars get far superior MPG than US models, even taking into account the smaller US Gallon. This is primarily because US drivers have no incentive to drove fuel efficient cars as your fuel is almost free. Can't blame you for not developing more efficient engines when it costs so little to run a car. And for parts, like I said cars are very reliable these days and have extensive warranties.
