Cars like this demonstrate clearly how boring Asian cars are 99% of the time.

@JayEmmOnCars True, but I think that Japanese and Korean cars are especially guilty of making insipid cars with incredibly dull interiors. The cars for people who don't like cars.
1
@JayEmmOnCars I agree that American cars are also dull, but given we are Brits on this channel, we don't really get to see many actual American cars as Ford and GM (or used to pre PSA) have European arms and cars like Jeep are pretty rare (and Italian owned now) and other brands like Dodge aren't sold here anymore whilst others never have been. I'm not saying European cars are fantastically aspirational and marvels of design, but they do a better job of making more interesting cars than Asia and USA American and Asian cars have dreariness in common though and seem to compete for the worst interiors.

@JayEmmOnCars I haven't seen many that are good enough. I agree they're improving, but most still have analogue dials which is unacceptable. The switchgear is nasty too. Unbelievably the current RX still has a CD player. I actually quite like the Lexus RX, but like most Lexus (or is it Lexi) it is too slow and there's always a better alternative somewhere.
1
@JayEmmOnCars I will say that the Honda E is a bit different and shows they are capable.

@JayEmmOnCars We are demanding ever more technologically advanced vehicles and as such continuing to use analogue dials seems like we are being shortchanged on tech. If you want analogue, that's fine, just my opinion that if I'm spending 40+k on a car, I expect a bit more tech than analogue dials, especially ones like Lexus which look very out of date. Mercedes and Jaguar until recently also had very old fashioned looking binnacle, but have really stepped it up. There is certain a lot of shit digital tech around though. Vauxhall for one.

@Pollywog Well it is, what other way would you put it? It is the U2 of cars? Why is it bullshit? If you like cars and driving, the last thing you do is buy a standard Asian car. There's a few decent ones but most are dismal.
1
@Pollywog I didn't say being enjoyable to drive was the sole criteria did I? I said they are the cars for people who don't like cars. Much of this is due to how boring they look and how bad their interiors are. I didn't claim to be the arbiter of what is a good car or not, I'm expressing an opinion. If you don't agree that's your prerogative, but I'll continue to maintain that most Asian (and American) cars are incredibly dreary and dull. It sounds like you are trying to defend them perhaps because you drive one and you don't like being associated with what I think of them, fine. Like them if you like, it doesn't bother me, but the general concensus among the population and var reviewer is that Asia produces capable, but ultimately uninspiring cars.
1
@Pollywog That's why I said GENERAL. Find me a review which raves about how interesting mass produced Asian cars are. Can't wait for this one. Kia, Honda, Hyundai etc are just dreary. If you like cars, what is so bloody interesting about a drab Asian car like a Hyundai, Honda, Toyota etc? They're boring.
1
@Pollywog Look mate. I expressed an opinion about Asian cars, I'm not stopping you having your opinion. Get over it. I find them boring, and associate them with people who don't like cars. You think differently. Good for you, vive le difference.
1
@Pollywog By the way I despise boy racers and modified cars.
1
@Pollywog Jesus, I dimly said they were boring, bland, dreary and dull. Any evidence to the contrary?
1
@Pollywog What's the point in telling you what I have, I can say absolutely anything and you wouldn't be able to prove otherwise.
