  1. Ha ha ha. You might pay by cash, but you won't be able to scan what you're paying for without a functioning IT system. EVERYTHING is connected to a computer even things like printing the bar code for a bag of apples, a tank of petrol or a pint of beer.

  3.  @Steven-of5rx  Did you miss the point where a computer is used to ring it through the till, read the barcode, print a receipt, order new stock etc? What can you buy these days which doesn't require an internet connected till? In case you haven't noticed, items don't come with a price sticker on them anymore, so what do you do? Get the cashier to go round and take a note of what everything in your basket costs?

  5.  @raydology  Trouble is that most of what you're buying will also have to go through a computer. It's not just having cash to pay, it's using software to process the transaction. Busoness stock is managed by it going through a computer system.
