Me too, love the industry and 100% of what we do is reliant on oil and gas. Without it we are back in the bronze age.

You're looking at a country with 5.5m with one which is nearly 70m.

@Le1fur It's not an excuse, it's a perfect realisation that most people in Finland live in a few places. Distributing heated water around the UK would be a logistical nightmare. Given that I live in Norway I can confirm that it is not the case that Nordic countries do this as a matter of course. Also, why would a country look at investing in that NOW? They want to move away from the production of energy where hot water is produced, so all that investment would simply be wasted as oil and gas fired power stations will continue to reduce.
2
@Le1fur That isn't actually true. It is a lie that every city has a powerstation. Why don't you go and have a look at a map of UK powerstations I agree that the UK is lazy, hence why I left but you haven't answered why they should set this up at the cost of billions for a system in which oil/gas powered stations are being phased out.
2
@Le1fur No every major Cory does not, and you still are ignoring that we are getting away from this idea of heated water driving turbines Government's don't dictate energy prices.
2
@Le1fur Well considering you lied about ALL Nordic countries doing this and then lied about every city on the UK having its own power station which produces hot water why would I believe you about Russia? Russia is a country with masses amounts of natural resources and unending supplies of gas. They simply have no incentive to have spent billions on providing hot water heating for free. I agree we will have oil and gas fuelled energy for decades, but you try and sell that with all the eco nuts around.

@felixm.c4091 How do we deserve to be in the bronze age? What a wonk statement.

@Le1fur You asserted your claim as a fact. Norway don't do as you claim and district heating isn't used universally at all across Nordic countries whilst it isn't necessarily from waste water of power plants. Only 65% of heating comes from District Heating in Denmark and as for it cheaper, why does Finland have the highest heating costs of Nordic countries if it is as widespread as you claim? Helsinki is on average €3243 to heat a 100m2 property, 5x Iceland ( who use geothermal) and 1/3rd more than Norway who don't use it.

@Le1fur I'm sorry if you find someone rebutting your claims as being rude. You must be used to asserting your claims and other people accepting them as fact. Wow, so your best friends brother works in a geothermal plant? How does that make YOU any more qualified on the matter. My brothers wife is a dentist, does that mean I know anything about it? Clearly you aren't reading as I never claimed to be a Norwegian, but if we're putting our medals on the table then I actually work in the energy industry, do you? I'm merely countering your implication that all Nordic countries and all citizens are supplied with district heating when they aren't, nowhere near. Yes, it's a good idea, yes, I'd like to see it elsewhere but it isn't as widespread and isn't as cheap as you claim. I noticed you completely ignored my information about Finland having by far the most expensive heating and energy of the Nordic countries. I wonder why? How can that be so if you claim they don't pay?
1
@Le1fur Who gives a toss if your neighbours, cousins dog works at a powerplant in Iceland, it's a complete irrelevant point of information which you only used to try and add credence to your point. It's true that countries have different heating systems. You implied that everyone was better off as a result of this district heating when that isn't the case at all. Furthermore I wasn't referring to business I SPECIFICALLY referenced an average sized FLAT.

@felixm.c4091 Philippines? What do you see there?
