  3.  @vincescotian8083  It isn't 40bn quid. Oil revenue to the Exchequer has only been 1bn a year on average for tje last 10 years so what exactly is hunt going to tax to get 40bn? Furthermore Shell and BP are not especially active on the UKCS and 95% of their profit comes from abroad which the UK cannot tax. Please explain how an industry which already pays a higher % of corporation tax than any other industry is going to stay in the UK for marginally profitable fields with massive exploration costs? They'll just leave for better tax regimes. Also, the Scottish Fascist Party are in bed with the greens and they want to end new production and exploration. So it's a bogey.
