It's a truly pointless "skill"
1
@Mantose262 Of course playing computer games is a hobby.
1
@hiro9920 Fired for what?
1
@dustinsindledecker154 Ha ha ha. Have you ever watched Sky News in the UK? It really isn't right wing. Listen to idiots like Beth Rigby
1
@wrenwry Plenty things are fun , doesn't mean that the skills used to do it are in any way practical. I'm specifically talking about the "skill" of completing Tetris, big bloody deal.
1
@Mantose262 A miniscule fraction. For the overwhelming majority of people computer games are nothing more than a hobby from which the user gains no discernible skills.
1
@wrenwry Did you not read what I said? For the cast majority of people having an ability in Tetris is an entirely useless skill. This isn't a gaming skill, it's a skill related to ONE game.
1
@wrenwry Plenty things by just being alive do that. Trying your shoelaces improves dexterity, catching a ball improves hand eye coordination. There's nothing unique to computer games that can't be obtained elsewhere without wasting time on a game from the 1980's. This really isn't a story (or an achievement)
1
@wrenwry No, not everything is a waste of time, but lauding completing Tetris as something noteworthy is.
1
@neonshadow5005 Do you expect her to blow smoke up his arse? He just played a computer game, it's not a serious new story and doesn't deserve special treatment . Must be a quiet Newsday.
1
@wrenwry The fact you say "lol" and "lmfao" tells me all I need to know about you.
1
@xrefed Because it's a pointless waste of time. Why would I spend thousands of hours doing something like that when I can spend thousands of hours more productively? Imagine if this kid spent thousands of hours learning to code, or getting good at a sport, learning a foreign language or two or in some other form of education? That would be a lot more useful. Not likely to be something you write on your CV is it?
1
@octaviolopez9966 Jesus fuck. Someone has a different opinion so there's something wrong with her? Grow up.
1
@Zevox144 Ha ha. What a stupid world record.
1
@Zevox144 Yes I know how to sell myself to employers which is why I was able to leave my country and work for one of the biggest companies in Europe.
1
@unknxwnuser31 Horse back riding? Why do you call it that? It's just called horse riding. We do things for fun, but doesn't mean it's a useful skill. Playing Tetris might be fun, but it's a skill that isn't very useful.
1
@reversi_dovah4995 Sports do at least improve your physical condition, rather than being sedentary playing a computer game.
1
@dillonmalbrue4179 What makes him "smart" Plenty of kids can be good at something but be total morons.
1
@nexerkarigum4031 No, I didn't say that, but celebrating this "achievement" as something laudable and praiseworthy is ridiculous. If this guy wasn't a 13 year old but was a fat old man in his mother's basement you would thi knit was pathetic.
1
@nexerkarigum4031 Yeah, playing Tetris is living life to the fullest isn't it?
1
@nexerkarigum4031 So what? Her issue is that she should have told her editor there was no way this should be deemed a newsworthy story.
1
@@QuinnOsgood-rj7wz What has his father dying got to do with this story? Stop looking for special treatment just because it's a kid. It's just bloody Tetris being completed by some American nobody, it shouldn't make news outside his town.
1
@rcktneoofusa Can you even speak English? You are writing absolute gibberish.
1
@rcktneoofusa I've rarely seen such gibberish written.
1
@MrDannymations54 Not as boring as playing Tetris. Go and play outside kid.
1
@rcktneoofusa "interfere nothing"? Jesus Christ, did you even go to school?
