@fp5495 American cars, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, owned by Italy.
Most of Ford range, deisgned in Europe, head of Ford design, Moray Calum, a Scotsman. Head of GMC design, a British woman.
Moving on...
It must embarrass you that China and India can do a better job of companies that USA used to own like Land Rover, Jaguar and Volvo when Ford had them . You were so shit at running them you sold them for a loss and theyre ten times better now.
You killed Saab and you nearly killed Aston Martin.

Male brain, male muscles, male nervous system, male reaction speed, male skeleton, benefit of male puberty, male eyesight, male cardio system, male liver. All of these and more make a man very different from a woman and give a man many advantages over a woman.
Anyway, just because someone feels unhappy being a man, doesn't mean they understand what it's like to be a woman by default.
Why does this crap get so much time? I can't identify as a different nationality, different level of able bodiedness, age etc.

@Ganiscol I'm well aware that there are thousands of oil related products that we need oil for, not least for tyres and plastics as well as medicines, cosmetics and various other compounds.
None of us would last five minutes without oil and gas.
The point I am making is that EV's are not especially green, and the focus on electrifying cars whilst ignoring far more damaging aspects and causes of climate change is folly.
Of course we have an energy transition, but by the very nature of infrastructure and electricity production, it simply cannot happen quickly and nowhere near as quick as doomsday environmental cults like XR want.
Make your childish digs at "oil lobby" if you like, but the energy transition will be slow.
As for fuel cells, hydrogen is simply too difficult to produce and too expensive using current technology.
I'm just being realistic, so there's no need to throw barbs at me.
The environmentalist line of "use renewables" is the equivalent of the Marie Antoinette "let them eat cake"
Switching to renewables simply isn't practical for billions of people, and would put them back into poverty if you cut off fossil fuel.
The whole environmental movement is pretty much virtue signalling, largely by Europe as long as China, Russia, India, Brazil and America continue to be the polluters that they are.
Nothing we do in Europe will make the slightest difference.

@Alanturner-c5x Norway is not my country, I'm just an ex pat Brit here, but it does virtually everything better. Roads, women, health, obesity, crime rates, pay, work life balance, facilities, infrastructure, pensions, lifestyle, free access to sports facilities etc.
Only thing UK does better is supermarkets.

@pistonburner6448 Ha ha ha. You just madw my point for me.
Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston and Range Rover are all designed, engineered and built in the UK. EXACTLY the same as Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge are in USA, despite Italy owning them.
So in what waybare they different?
Is Budweiser not an American lager anymore because Belgium own them 100%?
Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge are OWNED by Stellantis, a mwrger of Fiat and PSA, Fiat previously BOUGHT Chrysler, JEEP and Dodge.
By the way Buick and Ford models are mostly derivatives of European models in terms of design and engineering, so are they not American?

@shamanahaboolist That's complete bullshit.
Back then hardly anyone owned houses, interest rates were astronomical, houses didn't have double glazing, frequently didn't have heating and often at post war times didn't even have an indoor toilet.
People lived in "digs" at that time, you simply rented a room in a house.
Most western millenials are educated to a much higher degree than previous generations, have cheaper mortgage rates, more property to choose from, great choice of career and the ability to move around, cheaper technology, better travel and food is a far lower % of salary than before.
Clearly by demonstrating such naivety you acrually haven't bothered to read how grim things were in the post war period.
We still had rationing for 7 years post WW2 for fuck sake.
Boomers couldn't buy things unless they saved up for it, now a millennial can go and get a BMW on finance.

@shamanahaboolist I didn't say everything was fine, but I reject the doomsday bullshit from cults like XR which have been shown to be ridiculous and unscientific.
We will deal with imate change like we deal with everything.
It will present opportunities and many will actually benefit from it.
It's not all doom and gloom
Anyway, I bet you do fuck all about imate change anyway. Still get food from abroad, still travel, still use electricity, still drove a car, still fly, still import good, still use the Internet, still use concrete, still heat your house still have a gas boiler, gas hob and shower etc.

@victorstewart395 I think they are decent cars, but to suggest they are stillb miles ahead and the default choice is just a lie.
If anything other makers are usurping Tesla.
I'm not against Tesla per se, I'm against their lack of effort in design and build quality. There are plenty other good options out there.
You could have Polestar 2, Kia EV6, Genesis GV60, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Porsche Taycan, Jag Ipace, Audi Etron, BMW Ix3, Volvo C30, BMW i4, VW Id5 GTX, Skoda Enyaq, Mustang Mach E, Merc EQ, Fisker Ocean etc.
All more interesting than Tesla and plenty others in pipeline.

@helpredisembiring2241
I've driven plenty. Poor design, poor materials, laughable interiors, outdated, uneconomical, terrible gearboxes etc i drove a Dodge Challenger and the bonnet rippled at 70mph.
Im not saying all European cars are brilliant, obviously they arent, but there's reasons as to why US cars arent sold worldwide, and European ones are. Burger King is owned by a Canadian HQ'd company by the way, Budweiser is owned by the Belgians, but I would say they are still American, but by your standards, you wouldn't.
Im not sure you speak English based on your writing.

@pistonburner6448 Jesus, We were talking about luxury cars, of which Range Rover and Aston fit into that bracket.
I didnt claim or even imply that Aston or Range Rover were owned by the Germans.
You were the one who stated that Britain dodnt have any luxury cars. Who owns the company doesnt change the nationality of the car, as per example, Belgian ownership doesnt make that repulsive excuse for a beer, Budweiser a Belgian Beer. Its still an American beer, just like Rolls Royce or Bentley are still British cars.
Volvo haven't become Chinese simply because Geely own them.
ALL Bentley cars are made in CREWE, EVERY Aston IS made in UK, EVERY Rolls Royce is made at Goodwood and Range Rover all over the world (as many American cars are)
As for there being American luxury cars, ike what exactly? Luxury in Amwrica simply means big. Cadillac for example are second rate, as are Lincoln and are so bad that in most of the world you cant even buy them

@quercus3290 They almost never use their own infrastructure to do their own drilling as they don't usually own it. Oil companies tend not to own rigs and production platforms, they RENT them. Rigs get contracted out and travel around the world drilling wells. A rig costs hundreds of thousands a day to rent.
That's always done by companies like Oceaneering, Baker Hughes, Maersk/Noble, Wood Group, Halliburton etc who also supply the staff and materials for the drilling.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but I've worked in the industry for 15 years both in UK and Norway and I know first hand how I've seen it go from a predominantly Major based continental shelf to one which is explored and produced by a large number of small and mid sized companies rather than the likes of BP, Shell, Marathon, Conoco, Total, Exxon etc. In fact of those six, only BP, Shell and Total remain in the North Sea.
I already gave you the numbers of what they produce everyday, those are either as operator or non operator and statistics don't lie, they aren't the majority, far from it.
Also, just so you know downstream is THE RETAIL arm of oil and gas, exploration and production is UPSTREAM, whilst, midstream is transport and refining.

@donaldkasper8346 Again, you have ignored every other aspect of farming which can increase yield and implied that yield has ONLY gone up due to Co2.
You have ignored irrigation, fertiliser, corn species changes, genetic modification, planting techniques, soil optimisation, better crop rotation, pesticides, bird control, planting techniques, better disease detection and resistance , harvesting technology etc and placed all of your eggs in one Co2 basket.
Higher Co2, MAY improve crop yield, but to put it down as the ONLY thing as you have done is just laughably naive.

@JumpydeerbobHD I haven't deleted anything.
give an example of something I've written which is evidence of indoctrination.
For some reason these days YouTube deletes comments for some people and not for others.
I haven't made any claims in regards to my own beliefs. I have simply stated there is no evidence to support YOUR belief, and as you haven't presented any, that still stands.
Why is being indoctrinated to believe a religion a good thing? As a Christian, if you lived in Iran, you'd be indoctrinated to believe Islam, presumably you think Christianity is true, so do you approve of Islam indoctrination? You seem to think it's fine to be indoctrinated as a Christian, so why not a Muslim? Being indoctrinated to believe ANYTHING that has no evidence to support it (like religion) is not a good thing. How can you think it is?
Children are indoctrinated to believe in Santa Claus, but they grow out of it, why haven't you? You haven't justified your belief and you just believe it because you like it, you don't even care if it is true, of you did, you'd require evidence of it.
Our arguments are NOT two sides of the same coin. I require evidence to justify holding a belief, you hold a belief because you've been indoctrinated to believe it. The two are not equivalent.

@joachimjustinmorgan4851 You follow a book which condones and commands genocide, subjugates women, stones gay people, adulterers, unruly children and those who work on the sabbath to death, tells you not to save for tomorrow, gives rules for allowing slavery , condones incest, makes a sexual abuse victim marry her abuser, thinks human sacrifice is a good idea and thinks that someone else can carry out my punishment on my behalf.
Your book, your relgion and your god are an immoral joke, no wonder virtually no one believes in that shit anymore, and yes we do live in the best time and there is NOTHING good done by religion that cant be done without it.

@damonburroughs5283 So hardly a "threat", more of an arm flex in the mirror.
Sweden holds no interest for Russia, Sweden is only a source of iron ore, not really of interest to Russia given their vast resources and ability to source it from China cheaper anyway, Norway, the largest oil producer in Europe, where I live as an expat Brit, would be a much more likely "silk glove" target, yet you're pontificating over Sweden being a legitimate target when they've don't do anything more than thumb their front teeth at Sweden. You might as well pretend they've threatened UK with their frequent testing of RAF response times for airspace incursions.
As for your Swedish Air Raid Drills, that's just some crap you've made up.
You didn't send any links. Yes, I know SKF make bearings, crucial in weapons, machinery etc. I wonder why Russia might want to destroy a ball bearing factory in a country it's trying to reclaim? Mmmm, must be all about Sweden eh? Nothing at all to do with weakening Ukrainian ability to make weapons and mobilise troops? Oh no, nothing to do with that.

Im sick of hearing " how hard life is for gen z"
Honestly, you dont even know youre born. Try the 1970's or 80's with rubbish piling up in the streets, 3 day weeks, constant strikes renting TV, dead nit getting buried, working down a mine, no heating, single glazing, no cheap flights, no car finance, 17% interest rates, no internet, very little technology.
Life is so much easier now, stop bloody whining.

@marcpegueroles6769 No, there is a human ELEMENT to climate change, it is not all human induced. I can't begin to tell you how naive your claim is.
Climate changes ALL THE TIME. You are effectively saying that every flood, drought, hurricane, tornado, cold period etc is all down to humans. A truly ridiculous claim.
It is laughable to try and reverse climate change, not least because it's impossible but because resources are better spent dealing with the effects rather than trying to be King Canute. There is far too much lag, and also ridiculous when China, Russia, India, Brazil, USA are doing virtually fuck all.

@MrRailjunkie No it doesn't. Only a man can be a trans woman, so they aren't women.
A trans woman has a male brain, a male skeleton, male muscles, has gone through male puberty, has a male male nervous system, has a male cardio system, has male bone density, male hormones, male reaction times, retains a large amount of male strength, so what exactly makes them women?
You're denying science by claiming they're women. A trans woman scientifically is not a woman. That isn't transphobic, bigoted, right wing or even controversial. It's just a fact.

@Richard482 Life on earth is NOT at risk at all.
Without googling name me ONE species which has become or is at risk of extinction due to the effects of the contribution man has made to climate change.
You have bought into the catastrophication of the climate debate.
Also, do you seriously think that Britain's CO2 levels being reduced is going to "turn back climate"? With China, India, Brazil, Russia and the USA doing effectively fuck all it will make no difference, also how long do you think it would take given the decades it takes for CO2 to reach the parts of the atmosphere where it acts as a greenhouse gas? You don't just think that CO2 released today is causing it do you?
It is laughable King Canute thinking to think you can turn back climate, and who are you to say what is a climatic optimum anyway? Why do you get to decide what it should be for everyone?
Also, European road transport emits just 1% of global CO2, if you switched to all electric you might, once the cars have
done around 40,000 miles save the planet a paltry 0.5% of CO2. Air travel is also only 2% of global CO2. You're focussing on the WRONG contributions.
Running data and the internet is MORE than air travel, you're not criticising that are you?
Furthermore 99.9% of all species that have ever existed are now extinct, with no input from man at all. You're tilting at windmills.

@Kai-tn4yx Fuck off.
You are responsible for there being an oil and gas business.
You consume it every single day, you use it in plastics, transport, cosmetics, medicines, clothing, heating, cooling, manufacturing, insulation etc.
The world is a far better place because of oil and gas and only an idiot would dry to denigrate it.
Yes we are on a slow transition away from it but it will still be required for decades yet.
In the UK for example, we have 30 million buildings with a gas supply. Who's going to pay for those to be converted to electricity?
If each house costs 10k to convert, that's 300 BILLION.
Green energy sounds a very good idea until you have to pay for it.

@georgedoyle2487 The likes of Denmark, Finland (happiest country in the world), Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand etc are CONSISTENTLY ranked as better places to live than more religious countries such as the USA.
They have better societal health, better health, better education, lower crime lower obesity all this with LESS religion and NONE of those countries are "propped up by more religious countries"
Name me one "less religious country" which is propped up by a more religious country please.
Atheism isn't nihilism, it's simply not believing in god.
There is NOTHING good done by religion that can't be done without it, so why would you bother?

@noahcole6856 It really isn't.
The point to believe something is when it is supported by evidence, and there is absolutely no evidence anywhere that Jesus wasn't just an ordinary man.
There isn't any evidence in relation to divinity, miracles or resurrection anywhere at all, so at best, all you have is a myth, and an ordinary man called Jesus, by definition you don't have anything more credible than a fairy tale, just like Jews, Muslims, Mormons, scientologists, Catholics, JW's etc don't either. You all believe something for which you have no justification, which means you all believe on gullibility.

@aramzyf You're being narrow minded and missing the point.
Look at it from the point of view of someone who actually has the money to buy one.
They know that everyone as rich as they are could buy any car they want, could be better, could be faster, could be better looking, could have a more prestigious name, the difference is that they'll have something different, interesting and unusual.
If you look at money from the mentality of a Premiership footballer, you'll always go route one and pick the obvious choice of an Aston, Porsche, Mercedes or whatever, and it's boring to buy what all these predictable people would pick.
This is more of a thinking man's choice, someone with a bit more imagination, someone who wants to stand out a bit more, but still remain tasteful.
Well done Volvo.
1
-
@MrEMIT777 Exactly, I'm not saying it would be my choice, but I can see why someone would go for it.
Whatever you buy, there's always a "better" alternative as it were.
Personally I'd rather drive something that Raheem Sterling or Jamie Vardy didn't and wouldn't even look at, so it would certainly be something I looked at rather than the somewhat tired and predictable option of an Aston, Porsche or Lambo.
Understated is much more desirable than something which will have people think you're just a wanker with too much money and no imagination or taste.
When it comes to a certain point in performance, its pretty irrelevant as you are constrained by the laws of the road and the presence of other road users, same goes for handling.
If I could afford a Polestar, I could afford to have another half dozen cars in my garage too, so it wouldn't necessarily have to be faster, better handling etc because I could well have that catered for by all the other cars I could afford.

@Reprobus3
The standard upon which you base anything has NOTHING to do with whether or not a god exists. Morality demonstrably doesn't come from a god.
So far you've presented no evidence a god exists, and nothing at all that would even suggest that it is possible let alone likely.
I have answered all your questions. We do not, never have and never will require a god to arrive at a moral outcome.
For example, I can name you multiple repulsive things in the bible that you couldn't possibly find to be moral, yet the bible condones, commands or approves of them. Is the bible not the word of your god?
You believe something indistinguishable from a fairy tale, and just as you can't convince anyone a fairy tale is true, you can't do that with your infantile belief in a god either.
Does a god exists? Perhaps, just like Santa Claus might exist, but until we are presented with evidence, how could you possibly hold a belief in one, even a deistic one?

@victorstewart395 I did get your point about startups. I wasn't referring to top end cars like Lucid or Rimac, there are plenty others like Fisker, Alpha and a bundle of Chinese ones, besides Tesla has been around since about 2007 and is supported by more money than any car maker like Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, BMW etc, they simply can't use that as an excuse.
The Tesla S is yet another dreary design, blatantly derivative of the 2008 Jaguar XF.
Tesla delays are also due to chip shortages and issues with Chinese supply of other components. They have loads of factories so not being able to make them quick enough isn't an excuse either.
People have always bought boring cars to look at, look at the entire US or Asian production. No style and no soul. It's not a reason to keep selling shit, outdated designs is it?
1
-
1
-
1
-
@victorstewart395 I'm not even really disagreeing, but you are making claims about Tesla that you're having to back out of.
My beef about Tesla is that if I spend £52,000 on a car I don't want it to look like it's 20k and put together badly.
Tesla is like a lot of things, it's made for the person with zero emotion or interest in cars, but that's mass market appeal isn't it?
Just like people buy a 911 as a sportscar, a Range Rover as an SUV, or a Ford F150 as a pickup, it's the boring choice for the unimaginative
Nothing wrong with Tesla, I just want to spend my money on something that excites me in ALL ways, and sitting in it, looking at it, doesn't match it's one good point, it's speed.

@charlesd4572 You're just talking utter crap.
You're attempting to defend ridiculous beliefs on the basis that in life we have naturally lower thresholds for what we accept to likely true.
If you tell me you have a dog, my threshold for believing that claim is low because dog ownership is common, dogs exist, I can see evidence of shit in your garden or hair on your shirt, however if you tell me that you have a pink dog which only appears when you are alone I require a higher standard of evidence for that because we have no evidence that invisible pink dogs exist.
You're trying to say that we all hold beliefs without the need for any evidence. That's just untrue.
Therefore I stand by my claim that believing things without evidence is stupid. If you tell me you have £100 in your wallet, it might be likely, but until you show it to me, I won't believe you. That is a rational position. If you tell me you have 1bn in the back of your car, the two require different levels of evidence in order to hold a belief.
Believing a god exists is absolutely preposterous in regards to the realistic expectation, based on prior evidence that buses exist, run on a timetable, stop at stops and we have experience of taking them. I do not have faith in the bus coming .
Beliefs are not equal.

@charlesd4572 I didn't claim I was above it, I asked you to name something I would buy based upon the commercials spurious claim. Can you give an example? Thought not.
Human rights are subjective and based on society, it's why even US and UK have different human rights and different morals. These don't come from, and are not contingent on any religion or any god, especially as we now find the bible to be a deeply immoral book full of reprehensible and disgusting commands. If morals came from a god or a book, all countries would follow the same moral teachings over time.
Can you name any moral guidance that originated in religion? No, you can't, so not only can you not prove a god exists, can't give a good reason for believing in one, you actually can't justify what makes a religion worthwhile in the first place when there's nothing good done by religion, that can't be done without it.

Your Bible condones incest, genocide, torture, makes a rape victim marry her rapist, gives rules for slavery, allows you to beat slaves, stones unruly children, adulterers, gay people and those who work on the Sabbath to death, subjugates women and refers to them as unclean, so who gives a shit what it says about gay marriage?

All countries in Europe the number belongs to the car, certainly in UK, Ire, Nor, Den, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal etc.
Some countries allow private played, bit it still has an original number connected to it.
Certain countries, like Norway also allow alias plates.

@nonethelessfirst8519 That is simply not true.
It might be true in America, but European cities are often beautiful such as Prague, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Reykjavik, Munich, Vienna, Salzburg, Edinburgh, Wroclaw, Amsterdam etc.

@Adams4000
The oil and gas industry is not subsidised in real terms at all. It is the most highly taxed industry in the country so any subsidy is more than paid for in the taxes paid back.
You probably won't know this but some oil fields are taxed at a rate of 80% in the pound. Name another industry that pays that sort of amount in taxes? There is none.
Furthermore, how is the government paying for solar power? The government gets its money from TAXATION. So are you happy to pay more tax for virtue signalling?
You could cut European emissions to nothing today, and it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference to the world CO2 .
The issue is America, Russia, Brazil, India and China. Anything we do makes no difference at all whilst they do nothing.
If I buy an EV, depending on the type of grid I'm connected to, I'll have to drive it for between 30-70,000 km before it overtakes an ice car in terms of CO2. Those figures come from a Polestar report and they make EV cars.
I buy a new car about every 40,000 miles, so I'll never own a car as green as my current petrol one, besides European cars only account for 1% of all global emissions. So again, its virtue signalling. Even if you replaced all of Europe with EV cars, until they'd done 50,000 km each there would be zero reduction in European CO2.

@kimweaver1252 Jesus Christ, what a pathetic argument.
Cars, car aerodynamics, roads, , windscreen angles, average speeds, amount of traffic in front of you, the built environment being increased are all MUCH different now.
If you drove a vintage car, in the countryside at 1950's average speeds your windscreen would be covered in them.
By tje way, insect populations are not constant each year either. Your evidence is laughably anecdotal, and anecdotes aren't data

@MisterNova-p6j Don't bother with your word salad, give me the BEST piece of evidence.
The Bible ISN'T evidence, the Bible is a claim. We already know there was no Adam and Eve, No exodus, no flood, no tower of Babel, no destruction of tyre, no Nile drying up, no Israel living in peace with its neighbours, no evidence of Jesus being anything other than an ordinary man.
Given that, please explain HOW you justify your belief, furthermore "personal experience" also isn't evidence, and nor is a fictitious "personal relationship"
It should be easy for you to give this.

@b_uppy It doesn't stand up to reasoning whatsoever.
If a Jew, Mum, Hindu, Mormon etc made the same claims as you, you would rightly flat out reject them as just make believe nonsense.
You're claiming you know there's a bigger picture to this yet you can't possibly know about it because its the same as a fairy tale. I can't begin to explain how naive and stupid that is. You're starting from a point of not being able to separate your god from a fairy tale, so anything you subsequently claim about that god is in the realm of fairy tale, so how can you possibly claim any sort of credibility?
I get why you want to believe, bit it doesn't make it true, or even likely to be true. It is fantasy
I don't have to prove your claim isn't true, the burden of proof is on you and given that you didn't have to disprove every other god or religion, why do I have to disprove yours? I've simply said there is no evidence to support it, and you haven't presented any.
Could your god exist? Yes, is there any evidence which leads to that being a reasonable conclusion? Not in the slightest.

@gemmamudd7167 You're not a "slave" at all.
Your taxes pay for everything which has made whatever you call your life good.
Taxes pay for bin collection, water, education, libraries, public services, street lighting, hospitals, sports centres, roads, bridges, public transport.
By not paying your fair share (or any at all) of taxes you are a LEECH on society, a burden and a great example of why Britain is a shit hole.

@stephenboyd4934 ha ha. You absolute oaf
Oil is found in deep sedimentary rock due to MIGRATION. It can move through porous rocks, faults, fissures etc and be found in areas you wouldn't expect to find fossils.
Honestly, to claim oil is not a fossil fuel is absolute fucking hilarious and shows you have zero knowledge or idea about oil, the oil kitchen, source rock, maturation, migration, reservoir, seals etc.
Go and do some research before exposing yourself as a simpleton
It is made of microscopic fossils, not large fossils that we dig up at or near the surface.

@jorgeluiscapiello414 Yes, in exactly the same way.
Propulsion is only a small part of it. Fuel injection, 16 valve engines, catalytic converters, super chargers, turbo chargers, seatbelts, car safety, airbags, unleaded fuel, cruise control, sat nav etc have all had massive influences on .
Besides, Electric cars don't really solve a problem.

@P-e_A-c_E You're right. We so have a lot of thinga we don't genuinely need, but I could go and live in a tent, but life would be shit.
Life would also be shit if I had to get rid of my car, fridge, double glazing, TV, internet, music, streamed services, books, sports equipment, technology, communications, fitness gear, clothing, shoes, variety of food and cooking methods, lighting etc etc etc.
Stop being such a socialist. The world is a better place precisely because we can buy what we want. Living in misery and poverty is shit.
Most people realise they can't afford to be socialists.

@rangersnut You are looking at things in isolation.
1. The NHS has never had more money than it gets now. Government's don't run the NHS, NHS Trusts do. The NHS also doesn't run GP surgeries, they are PRIVATE contractors who sell a service to the NHS. Even if you were right, why is the NHS terrible in Wales and Scotland where Westminster have no influence due to devolution?
Name a country which isn't experiencing a cost of living crisis. We have many places in Europe in recession and/or with devalued currency or inflation or high interest rates. Can you blame the Tories for that?
Seems that you are rather naive and using confirmation bias.
Tax in the UK is the highest in SCOTLAND, set by the SNP. If you have a half decent job in Scotland you pay 42% tax, more than the Tories charge in England, even a low paying job over 25k pays 21% in Scotland, MORE than in England.
Yes, the Tories have done a terrible job, but you're deluded in the global climate of post COVID, interest rates, inflation and impending wars and migration if you think the policy free Labour party is going to make any positive difference.

You seem to be having a problem thinking out reasons. You have a knee jerk reaction to everything. Please try and understand why Mohammed is #1 boys name, bit no equivalent exists in females baby names. It's not that they are having more babies, it's a lack of imagination and a lack of variety in names in that culture.
Take a step back and consider the many reasons why something may be the case.
Also, the % of immigrants in UK is LOWER than in Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Spain, US, Canada etc.

@Limeskin It would be a miracle if you could use a paragraph and some punctuation.
People that are very tall, usually as a result of acromegaly or some thyroid related problem, such as Richard Kiel from James Bond are also very weak and very slow. Their height didn't make them a worthy adversery, in fact it makes them a liability and an easy target.
The flood demonstrably didn't happen by the way, you can't possibly believe it did . We know this to be a myth, just as we know we didn't come from Adam and Eve, we know there was no tower of Babel, no exodus, no sun standing still, no talking snake, no burning bush, so why believe anything else in the bible.
Let me see, do you believe the tales in other religious books? No you don't, so why do you think anyone should belief your myth when it doesn't have any evidence to support it either?
Your belief is just another fairy tale no more credible than believing in Santa Claus, furthermore the entire premise of Jesus is as laughable as it is immoral.

@MorphingReality The timescale that it is being demanded in is LAUGHABLE.
You are also not taking into account how long you need to run electric vehicles/transport for before they break even.
Heat pumps don't work in old houses, they only work in houses where they are already incredibly well insulated. Retro fitting heat pumps doesn't work, and who is going to pay for it?
UK has 35 million houses that use gas, if every house has to pay about £10,000 to convert, it would cost 350 Billion.
I see you ignored how you'd replace tyres, rubber, tarmac, concrete, glass, metal etc.
Electrolytic simply isn't efficient and is incredibly costly.
Also, the internet is 2% of global CO2, why is that never demonised?

@alexboitz8540 Public services like what? Edinburgh has the highest amount of pot holed roads in Europe .
What public services are good and why would being in Europe make then better?
It isn't just the 2% rise, it's a changing of the brackets at which you are liable to pay it. It would cost me 4k more a year and what exactly are the SNP doing with that? Free fucking bus passes for 23 year olds?
Shit education, shit NHS, shit police, among the fattest people in Europe, lowest life expectancy, shit roads, awful public services.
Why would Scotland be better off outside the UK when it receives more money from the UK than it generates in Tax. Exactly how do you want to finance that with no credit rating, no currency, no industries and no reason why the EU would want Scotland, that's before Scotland takes on its share of UK debt and still doesn't meet the criteria for joining EU.

@jbaker0203 I said EV cars from Europe.
This equates to 1% of global Co2. EV makers concede that depending on your grid you need to drive an EV 30,000-70,000km to break even.
Even if you took all cars of European roads now, you'd not see a reduction in CO2 until they'd all done this mileage.
I get a new car before its reached this level, so I will never own a car more clean than a normal car on this basis.
I'm not a denier, I'm just realistic that governments and activists are attacking things which contribute far less to environmental damage than others.
Planes and cars seem an easy target because there are visible emissions.
Global air travel is 2% of global Co2, same as running the Internet, yet you don't hear people protest against the Internet do you?
Why aren't they demanding changes in industry, construction, heating, cooling etc?
The lack of consistency in the argument is the problem and the rampant hypocrisy of campaigners is the problem.

@faisalmemon285 You claimed that you met one Scottish girl who said that ALL Scottish people deny their Britishness and ONLY refer to themselves as Scottish, do you realise how gullible it is to believe that claim? I'm fine that she said it, but why did y ou believe it?
I'm simply pointing out that one Scottish girl's view isn't representative of the entire country she claims to be speaking for.
Keeping the pound was NOT the reason for voting to remain as part of the 1707 Union
Secondly, abdicating refers to a monarch leaving the throne, not a country declaring Independence.
Also, it is SCOT, not SCOTT,
Everyone born in the UK and NI is BRITISH whether they like it or not. We don't compete in football as Britain because we have had separate geographic Football Associations since the 19th Century.
The MAJORITY of Scots see themselves as British, the MINORITY don't. Not calling yourself Scottish and instead identifying as British, doesn't mean you hate Scot's, or hate the Scottish.
Perhaps do a bit of research before taking an ignorant gir view with no life experience on the matter
1
-
@faisalmemon285 You could say that about Texans, but I wouldn't take your word as being reliable, just as I wouldn't believe a silly little girl and what she said about Scotland.
I'm not having a go, but it seems you don't really understand the make up of what Britain or Britishness is.
If I meet an American and I ask where they come from, they will probably initially say New York, California, Texas, New England or something like that, but they still also consider themselves American , that is the same for MOST Welsh, English, Scottish and Northern Irish ALSO considering themselves British in addition to which country in the UK they live, but it doesn't change the fact they are also British.
I hope that has cleared things up for you.
Yes, there are a minority of Welsh or Scottish who DONT consider themselves British, but it is a minority regardless of what your Scottish girl claims.

@voicezful
The bible is demonstrably disgusting and modern standards are why we deem it such a bad thing to follow.
It's a book that condones Incest, rape, genocide, kidnap, torture, slavery, subjugation of women, death for the smallest of transgressions etc.
It simply isn't relevant to any time after about 600ad
Your own book advocates for the DEATH of people who work on the Sabbath. I remember being on holiday in NW Scotland when I was younger and we were asked not to put washing out on a Sunday. Absolutely ridiculous and if they don't want to put their washing out on a Sunday, fine, don't involve me in your fairy tale.
The church has been dying on its arse for years, nothing to do with the 21st century doctrine. People just see that it's a load of nonsense and that there is nothing good done by a religion that can't be done without it. Pretty simple.

@tempstep4058 Faith is WORTHLESS because faith tells you nothing. If a Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Jew etc all believe on faith then it tells me that you don't care of your beliefs are true.
Faith is the excuse people give when you don't have a good reason to believe, if you did, you'd give the reason.
Religious texts are NOT reliable. They are FULL of lies, such as The Flood, Adam and Eve, Moses, Noah, Exodus etc.
1
-
1
-
1
-
@randelrobbins1408 Science has disproven Adam and Eve, Flood, Exodus, Tower of Babel, Talking snakes, non setting suns, "miracles" etc, so why would anyone believe anything in the bible?
If Jesus was so amazing, why did NO ONE who ever met him bother to wrote about him?
At best, all you have is there was an ordinary man called Jesus. You have zero evidence of divinity, resurrection or miracles.

@brndxt European countries have been shaped by all sorts of things such as Romans and Vikings, but like religion, doesn't mean it's relevant any longer, so appealling to ancient history means nothing.
The biggest influence now has been the industrial revolution and development of science to improving society and standard of living, education, health, law etc not crackpot religions.
Our laws and societies are not dependent on religion.
Again, tell me anything good done by religion that can't be done without it.
Also, show me a religious country which is better than a first world, developed ,western secular country.

@dougmasters4561 Ok, I'm happy to retract that not all morality is 100% subjective if you accept we don't get them from religion, because we don't, but you didn't need a religion to tell you that did you?
By the way there is an occasion when it is moral to kill innocent people, you really can't see that?
Abortion IS a human right. It is not YOUR right to command a woman to remain pregnant. Neither law nor science sees a foetus within the abortion window as a human being, so there's your first problem.
Again, what makes you think we get morality from any religion when the religion you claim morality is based on in the west so so abundantly clearly not moral.
Society has been shaped on all sorts of things over time, slavery, war, religion, empire, disasters, technology, geology, climate, economy etc, but it doesn't mean that we still have to behave as if they play a relevant part today.
1
-

@brndxt You can keep bringing things from the Bible up of you like, but we know FROM SOCIETY, not the bible that we don't want our stuff stolen.
Kids inherently do not know this so take things without permission, but parents tell us not to steal our siblings toys and explain to us we wouldn't like it done to us. It's about harmony and well being of our small society as a family which extends to wider society.
We do not need the bible to remind us of mortality, we are taught morality from our SOCIETY, not some disgusting old book which condones slavery, genocide, human sacrifice, vengeful retribution etc.
If the Bible teaches so many horrible things as acceptable, how have we determined what in it might follow moral rules? Obviously we don't use the bible as a morality guide or we'd still keep slaves and everything else we see in the bible, such as genocide or topping off gay people or adulterers would be seen as moral, but we clearly see those things as immoral.
You know this, so stop digging a deeper hole. How did you determine what teachings in the bible were moral and which ones were moral if you think morality comes from religion?

@donaldkasper8346 Where's your Nobel prize and billions of pounds?
If what you were actually saying was true, you could go to every country in the world and tell them you could save them billions by showing them they don't need to spend ANY money on agriculture, science, technology etc and they can just go back to 1960's methods, because all that matter according to you is fractionally increased Co2.
Do you know why they haven't? Because your claims are BULLSHIT.
You seriously think that Co2 is the greatest single reason why yields have increased over time? Why haven't you gone to the Department of Agriculture, why haven't you made your fortune? You could be a billionaire. So why aren't you? Why are you just some chumpon YouTube with a tinfoil hat?
You're just wrong, and your theory is naive, lacks any sort of control and doesn't take the hundreds of other factors which DO contribute more to yield into account.
I could make EXACTLY the same correlation with the number of drunk people in a pub and the number of empty beer bottles, so by your reasoning they are drunk because they drank beer. Don't you realise how stupid an assumption that is? It doesn't follow they are drunk because there are empty beer bottles .
You think you know better than farmers, scientists, soil scientist, geneticists, agronomists, seed specialists, hydrologists etc?

@iosis2009 Faith is gullibility by definition
The point to believe something is when it is supported by evidence.
Your god is no more likely to be true than Santa Claus is, it's just another man made concept with no evidence to support it.
I am in the far more logical position of reserving belief until it is supported by evidence.
Faith tells you nothing, and if a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Mormon etc all use faith, it cannot be reliable and it is not a pathway to truth, it is a demonstration of ignorance, arrogance and gullibility but crucially faith shows that you don't even care if your beliefs are true, which is the worst position of all. If you cared about your beliefs being true, you'd demand evidence, not faith.

@Luke_Radiosmash You're talking absolute tosh.
First of all Jeptha sacrificed his daughter to the god of the bible and the god of the bible ACCEPTED, secondly Jesus offered himself as a human sacrifice to pay for "human sin". Whatever way you look at it, THAT is a human sacrifice, and if he sacrificed himself to himself for a bank holiday weekend under the guise of a god, then it couldn't possibly even be considered a sacrifice could it because he knew he would be resurrected and knew he'd suffer no pain, so how is that a sacrifice?
Sorry you don't even know your bible.
There is no evidence a god exists and NOTHING which corroborates the story of divinity, resurrection or miracles. At best you have a David Koresh cult leader.
Additionally, Jesus was executed by the Romans, they didn't say it was for human sin, they just wanted him dead, so who declared it was for human sin?

@patricklee6206 Because she believes a book which is not supported by ANY evidence, believes a god for which there is no evidence for, which is indistinguishable from a fairy tale and a book which condones slavery, genocide, torture, incest etc.
That's why her beliefs are different to mine, because they are patently LAUGHABLE and indefensible.
She is in a religion which believes in Adam and Eve and that the earth is 6000 years old. Why would you want a LOON like that in charge of a raffle, let alone a country?
She could lobby her party to follow a particular line, just as Sturgeon did with her trans views, so yes, it DOES matter if you believe preposterous things.
You believe a politician who says they won't do something? Have you just hatched out of an egg?
