Congratulations to Nathan! Glad that now he can enjoy being a spectator and have an Olympic experience. Looking forward to seeing him skate at the gala!

They might've done so at an earlier press conference that included Yuma and Shoma, but I agree, some of the questions were kind of stupid, as if they were trying to goad him into saying something inflammatory that would have people jumping all over him.

Yeah that was a tactful response. Asking him about some people upset about his Mao's last dancer program from 4 years ago was kind of silly. Of course he wouldn't skate that in China due to people's feathers being ruffled, but overall, that movie was a true story of a Chinese person who fled to the US. He is definitely well-spoken.

Yes, she is still an amazing athlete!

It is doubtful since he's already won all the titles and he's a smart guy from an educated family. Even his coach said he wants Nathan to return to college. Doing all the quads is very taxing on the body and he's had hip surgery already. Whatever Nathan does, I know he'll be brilliant at it.

@nikegot2b yeah, for Eileen it was about the money. Male figure skaters typically don't make much anyway; I'm glad Nathan has always skated for the US.

She's not a "real Chinese" at all, having lived her whole life in the US other than summer vacations, and she doesn't look Chinese either. She is competing for China because it brings her a lot more money. Nathan is who he is and shouldn't be criticized at all-- he was born and raised in the USA, and proud of his heritage.

Yeah stupid question. As if he was going to say, "I didn't want to skate here to music that would offend the Chinese government so I picked Elton John."

He also performed ballet and trained in gymnastics as a child! I think he got a perfect math SAT score. So proud of him (as well as the other medalists)!

@cryt9108 He probably will, as he has been skating since he was 3 years old and has won the gold at the Olympics. I would rather see him move on to the next stage of his life at the top, instead of slowly declining and risking further injury as an athlete staying in too long. His coach has also expressed that he thinks Nathan should resume his college studies.

I doubt it but you never know.

So many were the same that were already asked at the previous press conference with all 3 medalists.
