PREACH, Professor. I'm an attorney in North Carolina and went to Georgetown. I know of so many people who could not find attorney jobs, whether straight out of law school or after being laid off. Many are not practicing law after 10 years yet saddled with debt. My career services never contacted me to see if I was employed (not at graduation) or what my pay was (base less than 30k in Northern Virginia-DC area!!). The job market's been awful for decades.

I went to a T14 and had a tough time getting jobs because I wasn't in the top half. I was only able to get terrible, low-paying jobs working for strange, little law firms and really regretted going to law school. Recently, another Georgetown grad contacted me hoping to get job contacts, but I had none. He had to move back in with his parents. Think of this happening to more than 50% of people who are actually smart enough to score over 165 on the LSAT.

Yes, especially for those in the bottom 80% of the graduatng class and those from lower tier schools.

@yuuswho plus, the professor's comments about the statistics being totally wrong hits it on the mark. My Career Services office never even contacted me to see if I was working or how much I was making (peanuts), probably because they knew I was not in the top of the class and would bring down their marketing statistics.

Law and medicine are also drastically different in terms of career prospects, pay, and career longevity.

Good concerns. How did it work out for him?

It's true. I was even thinking of working part-time at Starbucks and Target when I started my solo law practice and was hardly making anything.

Exactly, but many people in their early 20s are wearing rose-colored glasses and buy into all the law school marketing hype.
