Singapore is the reason why democracy and freedoms work for Chinese people. Its foreign policy is also outstanding. Singaporeans should be proud of their country.

Derisking, not decoupling. You can't really decouple from China. Just like China can't decouple from the west.

@Bob Smith It is time to dismantle the Russian military complex. We Chinese have seen our homeland being invaded by another country (Japan 1937-1945), so our support to Ukraine comes naturally.

@Hidden Agenda In the last few years, there has been a heavy brain drain from Hong Kong (Singapore's main competitor) to Singapore. This is especially significant after the 2020 Hong Kong National Security laws.

@神州 Shenzhou Singapore's political system is far less repressive compared to mainland China. For example, Freedom House grade Singapore internet freedom as 54/100, far better than 10/100 of mainland China. (Taiwan is 79/100 for your information).Singapore also allows official opposition parties, and people are free to vote for the party of their choice.

Obviously, the same can't be said for mainland China.

@神州 Shenzhou The largest number of Hong Kong expatriates will always be in mainland China for obvious reasons. Just like the largest number of Canadian expatriates will always be in the United States. Following the 2020 national security laws, Hong Kong experienced the largest number of population decline since World War 2 (government data). Many of them settled in the United Kingdom, United States and Canada, not to mention Singapore and Taiwan. Is there a reason why?

@Shenzhou. The president of Singapore is a mostly symbolic position. Just like 宋慶齡 in China, she was unelected but doesn't hold real power. Is there any problem for it?
1
@Shenzhou. PAP is a wonderful party, but it is not perfect and has to be accountable to voters. Recently opposition parties have begun to gain ground in the paliament. About 30 to 40 percent of Singaporeans did not vote for the PAP. Singapore is the reason why democracy and freedoms work for Chinese people.

Alex Jones symbolises what is wrong in American society. Not surprisingly, no such Alex Jones equivalent exists in China.

@Suhandi Wijaya If China has a right to censor the internet, why can't YouTube do the same? Censorship is part of the successful Chinese culture.

That's why Russia has the economy of half of California. Do you live in an autocracy?

@Agatha Lorenzo China owns $855 billion of US treasury bills. Forget about decoupling, China simply can't afford to do it.
1
@神州 Shenzhou China has been selling the US treasury bills slowly since 2014. Still, it is the second largest holder (after Japan).
1
@Shenzhou. China's large U.S. Treasury holdings say as much about U.S. power in the global economy as any particularity of the Chinese economy. Broadly speaking, U.S. debt is an in-demand asset. It is safe and convenient. As the world's reserve currency, the U.S. dollar is still extensively used in international transactions.

Good for United States

Are you talking about US military or Russian military? We know how Russian military is doing when it can't get a hold of the materials.

@reallifeengineer7214 OF course I don't represent all Chinese and neither do you. I am 100% for peaceful reunification between Mainland and Taiwan. I am not saying it will happen next week. But Beijing's hostility approach towards Taiwanese people doesn't move towards peaceful reunification.

@Real Life Engineer NATO never promised stop expansion. NATO by definition is a voluntary association. Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania joined in the 1990s pushing NATO to Russia's doorstep, yet did anybody cry foul?
1
@reallifeengineer7214 NATO, like BRICS, is a voluntary association. Saudi Arabia (a US ally) is considering joining it.
