This is another reason why China and Taiwan should peaceful reunify. Taiwan (not United States) is the world leader in advanced microchip research and manufacturing. We have seen Taiwan's microchip sanction towards Russia resulting in weakening of Russian military and saving numerous Ukrainian lives. If China and Taiwan peaceful reunify, it will easily be the most powerful country in the world.

@fredtan1506 Agree that China has no ambition to be a global leader. But being the strongest country in the world, it's national security will be permanently secured.

@2-cent That's exactly my point. Taiwanese are democratic and freedoms protected. Can Beijing recognize these rights? If yes, then Taiwanese will call themselves Chinese.

The only way peaceful reunification can happen is by Beijing recognizing the freedoms and democracy of the Taiwanese people.

@therealdeal2163 I appreciate your points. One country 2 systems is a great idea (thank you Mr. Deng Xiaoping). If Taiwanese have democracy and vote for their own leaders instead of "patriots approved by CPC" like they do in Hong Kong. Also if Taiwanese have freedoms, would Beijing impose national security laws and close newspapers and arrest people like they do in Hong Kong?

@fredtan1506 When I was back in high school, we learned the century of humiliation ends at 1945 with the victory in world War 2. (1841-1945) I stand by this definition. It is way in the past and will never occur again.
