Taiwan was returned to the Republic of China with the help of USA at the end of 1945. What are you talking about?

China should not have canceled the cooperation between the 2 countries. It is shooting itself on the foot.

@terryloi6975 USA has never recognized Taiwan as an independent country.

Stopping propaganda channels like People's Daily and CGTN will be beneficial to both China and USA.

We need more people like you Cyrus. Americans and American politicians don't understand China and Chinese. On the other hand, by provoking Taiwan militarily China is going through a dangerous path. Both sides need to calm down.
1
@Shenzhou. USA has also explicitly expressed that there will be consequences for China's actions.

@andrethorpe6183 I am Chinese. I love China. I have family tires for the Chinese Hong Kong government (that's why I consider myself a patriotic). I see first hand how Chinese government broke their promises for Hong Kong. Hundreds of thousands of HongKongers have left permanently. Newspapers have forced to close. People are thrown in jail for political reasons. I love China. How much do you know China?
1
@Shenzhou. I am not an American. Personally I feel that America has many problems. But it doesn't mean China should shoot itself in the foot. Cyrus is right. China should work with United States just like United States should work with China.

@andrethorpe6183 growing up in Hong Kong, we were taught about Colonialism and the century of humiliation after the opium war. We were NOT taught about the Great Leap forward and The Cultural Revolution. Do you know what they are?
1
@carolchu8189 you are absolutely. We need people like you to express your opinions.
1
@zhengxizhang7628 I know. That's why the US constitution needs to change to protect its own people. Glad that other countries are not as crazy.

@Shenzhou. Decolonization will be successful if Hong Kong people have a government that is accountable to the Hong Kong people, not only Beijing. Explicitly, Basic Law stated that Hong Kong Chief Executive has to be accountable to BOTH. 2 million Hong Kong people went to the street to protest against the government. Was it reported by CGTN or People's Daily?
1
@Shenzhou. yes. Indeed 2 million Hong Kong people marched on June 16th 2019 to protest. It was widely reported and the numbers were closed enough. My family was in Hong Kong that day for a family wedding, so we saw it first hand. Where were you on that day? Did CGTN report it? Did Chinese people (Hong Kong is a part of China) have a right to know what's going on in Hong Kong. During colonial period, protest like these WERE REPORTED IN ENGLAND. This is why some Hong Kong people (but not all) would rather have colonial rule rather than being part of China. For decolonization to happen, Hong Kong government must be accountable to Hong Kong people.
1
@Shenzhou. Even if 338000 showed up (I can assure you it'smore than that), it is still a huge protest. Why didn't CGTN cover it? Please tell your mainland friends, this is why Hong Kong people couldn't decolonized.

@darkhorseinamerica1935 I am not an American, and I disagree with the Pelosi visit. However, just because Pelosi made a visit doesn't justify Chinese government harming her own people with trade sanctions with Taiwan (Taiwan is a part of China). Xi Junping always said trade sanctions are bad. China should and did sanction Pelosi and her family.
1
@darkhorseinamerica1935 President Xi Junping asked the CCP to win hearts with the Taiwanese people. I agree with him (I am Chinese). Trade sanctions and military drills don't win hearts. I hope China and Taiwan can peacefully unite.

@Shenzhou. I am not stirring up old wounds now that the extradition bill has been scrapped. I just want to let you know why some (but not all) Hong Kong people have the colonial mentality. Most Hong Kong people including myself love China, and you know that. Please let your fellow mainlanders know. That's all I have to say. Goodbye.
