@Daniel-vw7mw Russia never cared to hold Kharkiv, that's why you got zero defense build up there and they didn't try to even hold it for a second. They had that territory because there was zero resistance at start, then used that weakness of no defense as a trap when they shortened/straightened the frontline. Kherson City was different, they wanted to defend the city an keep the Nazis away, that's why they even accepted such a giant disadvantage with that river in their back, but when the Nazis/NATO started to bombard the dam, the risk was too hight and they evacuated the city and after that got no reason to not change the disadvantage into an advantage. Was overall very bad for the Nazis, because they had ugly losses even with the Russians willingly fighting at an disadvantage, just to keep a city save. And of course it was shown how right Russia was, since the Nazis DID destroy the dam later.

@andreahighsides7756 Because they never tried to take it. Kiev is around 60 times the size of Avdiivka. You think Russia would try to take it with less soldiers than they got at Avdiivka? It was a pinning operation, attacking something important of the keep the enemy occupied while you take what you actually want.

@Prometheus7272 Oh, Ukraine obviously not, that's why our fascists see them as subhumans the can sacrifice as they please. What the do with Ukraine is of very strategic importans, because our fasists risk a lot to bring down Russia - and it doesn't work. At all.

Retreating out of an encirclement is by far the worst you can do. It's a massacre. And it's not like it was ordered, there are many signs that it was simply impossible to stay, so they just fled and the 'order' came AFTER that, just to try to create the illusion that it was on purpose. If you got something like an encirclement happening, you must retreat at the START - not when you are encircled. You are fucked when this happend, no matter what. Only REAL chance then is to give up and hope for the best will of the other side.
