While it surprised me, too, it makes sense. If Putin would only have stepped in with Peacemaker, you would jus have the same situation as before, only with Russin troops involved and it would be a lot lke the Situation in Georgia and we know how this ended. Just look at what the coup regime is doing now. They even set prisoners free and arm them. Bad enough but just imagne if they would still have all the military equpment Russia destroyed. And it's not only East Ukraine that is suffering. Whole Ukrain is bleeding out more and more. Putin first cut the claws of the monster by destroying the military now is going for the head to save the whole body = people. Big problem is, that USA/NATO seem to push their puppet coup regime to hurt Ukraine as much as possibel and sow chaos. That's why they just spread weapons, even to prisoners. That's desastrous for the Ukraine, not for the Russian military.
