Of course it's real. There is no need to doubt that. There are people in prison who ruined their own live with all kind of nonsense, but might take the chance to turn it around under strict supervision. The whole no alcohol no drugs thing is no joke and they go right back to jail if they don't follow it same for all other rules. None of them has to take that chance and many simply won't get it at all, because they are imprisoned for serious crimes like murder or don't have the physics or psych to follow this path.

Sure, why not. It's clearly not something for everyone and may won't take that chance anyway, because it's clearly a very hard way to turn your life around, but it's a chance. It's not compareable to what Zelensky did, who just let people run free and arm them, because hell, when your army is full of ultra criminal Nazis anyway, what could get worse?
